QF staff bonus payment August 2015

This morning's QF announcement that 28,000 staff will receive a five per cent bonus (if covered by a finalised EBA) shortly after the August 2015 final annual results announcement must mean that for the first time in six years, a dividend payment will be made to long suffering QF shareholders (including staff who hold shares.)

There would be some anger among investors if this did not occur.

QF shares (like VA) have been a poor investment in recent years. While I do not like Warren Buffeet's leftie political views, at least when it comes to airlines his investment logic is sound: 'stay away.'

Qantas ground staff get nothing. Most other parts of the business do.

Won't that create a little animosity? By 'ground staff' are you including check in staff, passenger handling staff at airports and baggage handlers, or are only some of these positions excluded from the bonus?

Sorry, by ground staff I meant the check-in, lounge, gate staff. There may be one or two other groups, but I'm unaware.
Most Jetstar staff even got this.

The reason some staff get and some don't...

Qantas staff who have agreed to 18-month wage freezes will pocket a one-off bonus as the airline heads towards posting a near $1 billion pre-tax profit this year.

The deal offers a carrot to employees and unions which have yet to conclude new enterprise agreements, including Qantas' long-haul pilots who will begin voting on a new pay deal nex

Also, some of the people doing the work for and behalf of QF might not be QF employees.
Accor run the lounges around Australia, and you can tell by the uniforms, I have seen the girls dressed in black dresses and slacks, guess these are Accor staff, have also seen the QF staff up the front, where the Accor staff do not go, ie, the "dragons", these would be QF staff members.
Have also seen some of the same as front staff moving things around the lounges as well.
But most of those work are done by the Accor staff.
