Hi all,

I'm 100 status credits away from Gold QFF Status but I've now moved to the US for work and have until July to make it to Gold - without the opportunity to fly QF again!

Any ideas for how to get there?

Is it too risky to get a ticket for someone else under my name and FF (domestic only) and get them to fly on it with the hope that they won't check ID?

Thanks!

Take a flight on AA. SC are earned:- Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions
Some here take a few KUP AA flights for quick status silver to gold to platinum. With a little careful planing and not many $$ you get can Plat easily.

So do I just book on the AA website and then use my QF FF #? And it's not clear which booking classes earn SC and which just earn FF points... Thanks!

When you make an AA booking, make sure its from one of the earning fare codes shown in this table:

The number of SC's is based on distance and class being flown as per the table below:

Okay - thanks.

What if it's an AA ticket but US air metal? V class...

if your flight is sold as an AA number, it doesn't matter what metal its on, you'll earn at the AA rate. From 31st March onwards US airways flights will also earn as they are part of Oneworld from then on.

Thanks to all for the assistance!

Just as an aside - are there any benefits in the US, to being a QF Gold? Can I use it to get lounge access here? Or status matching with any other programs? I could do the research myself, but you all seem to be very knowledgeable so I thought I would ask!

As a Gold you will get access to Oneworld lounges when you are flying with OneWorld airlines. The other benefit of being in the US is you can earn SC's at a much better rate than you can back in Aus. The drawback with being a QF member, is that to keep your status levels with QF, you must do at least four flights per year on QF, which from the US effectively means flying out of DFW or LAX back to Aus.

don't forget to attaint and retain status you need to complete 4 qantas flights (with a QF flight number on your ticket) per year.

So if you are going for gold, make sure you already have those eligible flights.

Once you have gold, and if you can't complete the 4 QF flights per year, I'd be using QF status for lounge privileges in the USA while building up status on a local airline.

As SeatBackForward said, access to Oneworld lounges is one of the benefits of QF Gold. However those 4 QF flights will be the hardest part of re-qualifying if you're now living in the US. Other benefits include, better seating, priority check-in, and priority boarding.

Being US based you will get WP at not much of a stretch.

Look at some of the threads on good SC routes.

AA has a challenge for faster status. If you get AA status you do not get lounge access for USA domestic flights, so QF gold status has an definite advantage

As for a status match they do happen occasionally, but many have challenge type conditions

Is the move to USA permanent or for a limited time?

My FF card also seems to be enough ID. Never been asked for license in 18 months of domestic flights at 2/3 flights a week.

That's my point, it's not really ID (ie no photo, signature or issued by a government entity).
