Dear AFF’ers,

I’m in a bit of a situation.

I’ve got two seperate bookings :

1. CBR-SYD-SIN, $ fare paid using AMEX $450 credit, onward 10/08 return 14/08

2. SIN-KUL-MAA, QF classic reward seat, onward 10/08 return 13/08. I booked SIN-KUL-MAA return using QF points on QF website.

Got an email few days back from QF that my MH flight out of SIN is delayed by 30 mins on 10/08. No biggie. Gives me more time to exit SIN and re-enter.

Got an email today from QF that my MH flight out of SIN is brought forward by 3 hours. This means, I’ll be landing in SIN after my SIN-KUL flight has departed.

Called up QF today to discuss re this. Been told that there is no MH service after the one I’m currently out on. Can’t really do much about this.

I’ve expressed that I REALLY need to be in MAA on the night of 10/08 or wee hours on 11/08. I’ve got a once a year thing ceremony to partake.

I checked beforehand, there are no MH services after the one I’m currrntly put on. There is, however, a EK service out of SIN around 2130 to DXB and then a connection to MAA arriving at 0835 MAA time. This isn’t going to help, but this seems to be the ONLY flight out of SIN after my SYD leg lands in SIN.

I’m trying to see if the ceremony can be delayed a few hours so that I can partake. The chances of this are super slim …

The agent on the phone said that she is going to talk to the “relevant” team and see if any flights can be ”opened” to accommodate me… I’m not relying on a flight being “opened” for a single pax …

Is there anything I can request QF to do?

I thought about cancelling the paid fare and take an earlier flight into SIN. If nothing else works out, I’m going to have to do that …

There is always MEL - DEL via ADL with QF if you are happy to forgo what you have already got.
Won't be cheap, but this will at the least get you to DEL if you book asap.
I did say it won't be cheap.
Not sure if QF can do anything, as in the end, it was all caused by MH, and not QF directly.
Edit: just checked on the QF website:
CBR - MEL - DEL $621 in whY on 08/08.
DEL - MEL - CBR $653 in whY on the 13/08.
See about cancelling the flights you already have booked, you might loose part of the fare paid.

Presumably you are booked on QF81 for SYD-SIN?

SIN-KUL-MAA, QF classic reward seat, onward 10/08 return 13/08.

Cancel the outbound SIN-KUL-MAA flight (keep the return) and book a cash or points ticket with SQ SIN-MAA on SQ528 departing 8:15pm. If you are HLO you should be fine.

If you miss that flight, your backup is 6E54 SIN-MAA departing at 2:45am.. and use this as a lesson to not book tight connections on different PNRs!
