QF Partner Award Pricing Query

Hi all,

I'm trying to book a one-way award and am having trouble understanding the new pricing structure post the changes last year.

The itinerary is as follows in J and all connections are <24hrs:
HEL-DOH (QR)
DOH-KUL (QR)
KUL-MEL (MH)

When I try to book it online it quotes me 180k points and the same over the phone with QF, but I believe it should be 159k.

When I look at the classic flight reward table, I'm reading the "Partner Classic Flight Reward Table" and it shows the pricing in J caps out at 159k in Zone 10. I couldn't see any relevant terms that apply to this itinerary which would preclude it from being a "Partner" award and make it a more expensive "Oneworld" award, and all the flights are with Partner airlines listed in the table.

When I ring QF they can't explain why it's being priced as a Oneworld award rather than a Partner award.

What am I missing here?

The oneworld Classic Flight Reward table only applies when your Reward Itinerary includes travel on at least two oneworld Member Airlines other than Qantas, and does not include any travel on any airline that is not a oneworld Member Airline

The way I read that, your award would be treated as a OW award because it uses more than one OW member airline and no non-OW members.

I understand where you're coming from. The bit I'm struggling with is just because it would also qualify for the more expensive OW award, I don't know why that means it precludes me from benefiting from the cheaper Partner award table which it also seems to be eligible for?

I don't think you get to pick and choose which table you want it to fall into. If it qualifies as a OW award it's a OW award

But can't the same be said for the reverse? i.e. If it qualifies for a Partner award, then it's a Partner award?

What exactly is a Partner award then? An award with less than two non-QF airlines? If that's the case, that's fine - but QF need to publish that condition on the site.

"'Trip' means a series of one or more consecutive Flight Segments within an Itinerary:

(a) that does not include:
(i) a Stopover; or
(ii) a Flight Segment whose arrival city is the same as the departure city of any other Flight Segment in that series (in this instance the Trip will be broken at the farthest point from the departure city for that series);
(b) not exceeding the maximum permitted miles in the Qantas, Jetstar or Partner Classic Flight Reward tables as applicable (see qantas.com for the tables); and
(c) not broken by a change to or from any airline included in the Partner Classic Flight Reward table (see qantas.com for the table)."

Note c) above.

14.4 Classic Flight Rewards - Qantas and Airline Partners only booking conditions

14.4.1 The Qantas Points required for a Classic Flight Reward Itinerary will be calculated as a one way Trip or series of one way Trips and will be the sum of the Qantas Points required for each Trip in that Itinerary.

I'm guessing that the 180k (is it actually 179,500?) is the sum of the points required for HEL-DOH-KUL + KUL-MEL.

Also, I'm not sure the OW award would be cheaper as it is calculated as a return journey (even if you don't return to the origin).

Thanks! So what you're saying is, I can't change partner airlines?

Whether it's because of the OW award condition or the "trip" definition, I'd say the change of airline is the problem yeah.

This is two awards as a partner award and will price as such. HEL-KUL and KUL-MEL. Note that the partner award and oneworld award charts are now identical since the last lot of changes.
