I have a flight coming up and QF have cancelled it.

I was not contacted by QF at all (sound familiar to anyone ???) and only stumbled across it due to my OCD that relates to where I sit on a plane.

Anyway I do digress; I have been offered J on either a B717 or B737.

Anyone have any advice/opinion/recommendation?

Thanks in advance!

I quite like the look of the 717 J, but have only ever done it in Y.

I find there are too many old, tired 737's, so would probably prefer the 717.

YMMV

I'd go with either 717 or 737. 717s only on HBA-MEL route and the J is much the same as the other.

Last time I flew this route (SYD-ADL) I chose the B717 just to try something different.
Refurbished J looks good and comfortable.

I've flown many times in J on the new 717s and I think it is terrific. Very comfortable seats, good legroom (even in Y), cabin feels roomy and being a smaller craft boarding is usually very quick. Only drawback is the IFE is an IPAD which I really dislike. But for short sectors it's fine and in my view better than the lottery with 737s.

I had four sectors to/from HBA earlier this month and really enjoyed the 717 J product.
I agree that the iPad isn't the best but miles ahead of the overhead screens!

I would choose the 717. Just make sure that that aircraft actually has J. I had a QL flight cancelled recently, and was nearly moved to a non-J 717.

If you get a BSI 737 then it is much of a muchness, but there are too many old J 737s to take the chance.

Will have to double check that the B717 has J. If not I'll be very unhappy and will have to go with the B737 option.

for reference - an article on AusBT about qantas servicing on their 717 fleet. watch the dates where they'll be substituting non-J 717s into the ADL flight.

Some time back I had to change my JASA PER-KTA-PER flights scheduled for later this month as I noticed that they substituted some of the 737s for one class 717s .
That was a hassle as the connecting flights also had to be changed to fit in!

question for you guys - if i make an award booking (e.g. on AA) for a flight that involves an australian domestic QF J flight and that domestic flight gets cancelled, how does the rebooking process work? do i just sort it out with qantas or do i have to go back to the original ticketing carrier to sort it out?
thanks!
