Hi All,

I'm travelling from SIN - FRA on QF on 21st November and then (hopefully) from FRA - FMO on LH. I've never flown LH domestic (usually choose LCC such as Air Berlin or DBA) and I have a number of questions relating to these bookings, and I am hoping you may be able to help me out:

  1. I understand that LH is affiliated with *A and QF with OW however, is there any Baggage Streamlining arrangement in existence between these two airlines? That is, is there any chance my QF baggage can be transferred straight to the Dom. LH flight?
  2. As a QC Member I believe I am entitled to take 20kg Y allowance + 10kg extra, and as I am away for 3 months I will probably need every one of this extra 10kgs. However, LH economy only allows 20kg and I don't particularly want to have to fork out another 50 Euros in excess baggage if possible. I guess what I'm trying to ask is whether the dragons at the check-in desk will make me pay or just turn a blind eye (as many CIAs do in AUS)?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Brett

Q1 - I don't think that QF will connect to LH unless part of same ticket. Last Nov I could only convince 3/4 LH to LH transfers on separate tickets to check luggage through (ie KRK/FRA FRA/TXL was OK
TXL/FRA FRA/BCN was OK
BCN/FRA FRA/HAM they refused at BCN and luggage had to be collected and rechecked at FRA
HAM/FRA FRA/LAX was OK.

Also, QF arrives in one terminal and Lufthansa operates from adjacent terminal but there is a train linking them.

Q2 - everywhere except FRA (ie BCN/FRA FRA/HAM) on way to HAM was OK with excess luggage. Was charged 20Euro for 4kg excess in FRA. Within Germany its 5E/kg, within Europe its 10E/kg.
