Hi All,
QF Gold status.
Have booked a family vacation to see relatives in UK and Singapore.
MEL-LHR on EK via DXB.
LHR-SIN also via DXB.
SIN-MEL on QF.
All flights on QF flight numbers.

No problems with the MEL-LHR and SIN to MEL legs.
But currently for the Singapore VTL, UAE is not on the permitted list of countries and therefore the flights are not usable.

My thoughts are I will need to ring Qantas to rebook, MEL-LHR and SIN-MEL. Then seperately book SQ LHR-SIN.

Anyone else in similar situation?
Mainly looking for a second opinion.
Nick.

Are you doing a stopover in DXB or SIN ?

If QF sold you that ticket then it needs to be a valid itinerary. If not they need to fix it.

SIN-MEL will be a “FEPO” flight.
Which of the flights in your itinerary is VTL?

EDIT just read that you are stopping in SIN
I don’t see a problem with this trip.

Thanks Fiona, I think the issue is that the DXB-SIN EK flight is not VTL as UAE is not on the allowed list. They were going to be added, but then they and the other Middle Eastern country's were deferred.

Does it need to be VTL ?

EDIT: oops my bad. I thought SIN was open to families as well as Citizens.

Could you ask to be put on BA LHR-SIN ?

Looking at the BA website is showing some strange info, such as only PE and Business, no economy plus not flying on the date we need...

In a similar situation to you with flights booked ZRH-DXB-SIN/SIN-SYD (separate ticket back to SYD), have planned a stopover in Singapore as they don't allow transfers with separate tickets, but since our routing is via Dubai we may need to reconsider.

We aren't travelling until August so really hoping the rules in Singapore change by then.

I have managed to get out via KL-DXB-LGW in March. Business and First was showing avialbility

Hi All,

SIN-MEL on QF.

Try and get the QF codeshares on AY LHR-HEL-SIN - that would meet the VTL requirements to enter SIN and these codeshares are allowed on QF UK fares which is what matters.

Not permitted on QF fares so it would need to become 3 one way fares.

Great call!! Had completely forgotten that Finland was on the allowed list!!!

So an update...
Qantas, ZA call centre, were able to rebook onto AY Finnair for an additional $27,000!!! Politely declined and they eventually were able to cancel and issue a new credit voucher for my origional 2020 credit voucher and CC refund for the CC part payment.
Have now booked LHR-HEL-SIN with AY directly with airline.
Then contacted Qantas, again and again in ZA, to use the credit voucher to book, MEL-DBX-LHR SIN-MEL. Currently I have received nothing from Qantas, but I can see on Emirates app and website, that the LHR-DBX-SIN leg has vanished and only the MEL-DBX-LHR is there but now without any of the previous seat allocations, passport numbers etc. So happy that something at Qantas is updating things.
Just waiting for the SIN-MEL leg to pop up and hopefully recieve the ticketing PDFs..
