Hi all

I have a number of red cardboard QF ticket wallets and some silver business class ticket wallets. This is something the QF travel centre people kindly gave me.

Now I also have an upcoming points trashing expedition which involves travelling F. I don't think the silver business jobs are up to the mark. Anyone knows whether QF make 'first' ticket wallets, cardboard or otherwise? The nice ladies at POM travel centre had none, but then there aren't any F flights out of POM.

Incidentally, I changed our F bookings LHR-HKG to CDG-LHR-HKG and was delighted to get the extra sector in J by paying only 2500SCs each and having $22 taxes refunded each. If only all my dealings were such bargains!

I'm pretty sure that there are First wallets (cardboard), although I think they are only available at the First check-in area in Syd/Mel and other major ports that serve F.

They are a kind of Gold/Brown coloured. Tried to find a picture online, but failed. I'll go through some of my stuff and see if I still have one that I can post a photo of.

And here's some quick images I grabbed of one tucked away in a drawer of mine: (Think it was from June last year)

The white bit on the top of the inside is where they attached bag tags to, and when peeled away they took some of the surface off.

Yes QF do have First ticket wallets, just as Mal has shown.

They are golden brown colour; kind of like a wood marbling technique.

I don't know where they might have them, but I only got one because I used the MEL T2 First check-in (for QF WPs, OWEs and F pax) last December (even though I was booked in Y, but got op-upped to J). When I checked in at BNE for my domestic connecting flight to SYD where I had a F flight (albeit on BA, but I had a QF connecting flight in F afterwards), I managed to get a F premium stock boarding pass but not a F ticket wallet (in fact, all I got was the regular red e-ticket wallet).

Personally, I fond the "wallets" provided by airlines to be most impractical. I find my shirt pocket (always travel wearing a shirt with a pocket) is the most convenient place for passport and boarding passes. The only other place I find ok for these documents is inside the leather travel document wallet I received from Qantas many years ago. If find the cardboard ones very inconvenient and usually discard them in the nearest rubbish bin between check-in and immigration when I place the important bits (passport, express card/APEC card and boarding pass) into my shirt pocket.

Perhaps I should collect the cardboard wallets and sell them on eBay?

I think our TA has them as my boss's boss does fly in paid F and I am sure I saw them on his desk.

Like NM I don't find them useful and even less useful is the plastic wallets that our TA sends with a print of our electronic itins...

Thanks for your comments folks. The hunt is on! Unfortunately my next itinerary is BNE and CBR, which mightn't yield much.

Mal, thanks for identifying the desired objects. I thought they'd be out there. NM, if you put them on e-bay I'm happy to bid my handful of e-rewards points or something similarly valuable:rolleyes:

Our TA always supplies me with a useful plastic wallet full of goodies like itineraries, stylish cardboard bag tags and business ticket wallets. Her duties don't however extend to putting the itineraries in the ticket wallets .

I just received two today and they are blue coral patterned with the new Qantas logo and a big one world in the lower right corner and 'first class' along the top. Supplied by Qantas Corporate for a flight to New York. Nothing in them apart from an outgoing passenger card and a QC business card. Nice touch though. I had a J flight out of Cairns connecting to an F from Sydney to London last October and was given a J folder with my domestic boarding pass and an F folder with my international boarding pass by the Cairns domestic checkin desk so most Qantas offices and terminal desks should have them.

Can scan them if you want to see them

Yeh that would be interesting. Sounds like QF has new stationery.

Collected some more Red Y and Silver J QF ticket wallets at their POM sales office last week. But then POM would pRobably be the last place to get anyyhing new in.

I can see it. An interesting design. Not sure how it fits into the Qantas corporate image (and IMHO seems more like what they would have used 4+ years ago), but it's only a piece of heavy paper/light cardboard :)

I have only ever been given the wallet if I have checked luggage. I only do this once or twice per year.

I peel the baggage stubs off and put them inside my passport. The wallet is too large to fit into a pocket so I usually bin it in the lounge.;)

The last ticket folder i received was a pearly coloured one similar to the first post and that was last October from the local Qantas office. Same place issued these blue ones to me a few days back. I did get a business one in July which had a field of yellow flowers on it and another which i think is wheat.

A few years back I got told off by an immigration chap at CDG for putting my bag tags on the back of my passport. Seems I had no respect for this important symbol of my nation. Its the only place i can remember them and CDG is the only airport so far which has asked to see my baggage claim tags when i pick up my luggage.

Am in the MEL F Lounge now and my F Wallet is still the gold one. I have not seen the coral one in my 20 odd F flights with QANTAS in the last 12 months.

Just asked my Qantas agent who tells they are 'retail specific'. You get one type from Qantas holidays, one from a retail office, one from Qantas Business Travel and several dif ones from airport desks depending on their location and the amount of F travel they deal with. Its nice they still have specifically marked boarding cards as well unlike BA where you really have to look very hard to find which class you are travelling (not that I'd forget).

Says a lot about how much F travel Qantas Cairns sells then. Its still nice to be given them in this day of etickets and cost cutting travel agents.

I have only see & had the gold ones.

The blue is nice thought

Personally, I fond the "wallets" provided by airlines to be most impractical. I find my shirt pocket (always travel wearing a shirt with a pocket) is the most convenient place for passport and boarding passes.
I have a bright red Levenger Road Scholar travel wallet, which holds passport and boarding passes and travel documents (itinerary, reservation printouts etc.) with a bunch of card slots for loyalty cards. Outside pockets hold items such as boarding passes I need immediately. Inside is zippered securely and I keep forren currency, express passes and stuff. There's a detachable wallet which I don't worry about.

Stores everything I need for travel, it's big enough to hold A4 paper folded in thirds, small enough for my trouser pocket, and bright enough not to be easily mislaid.

I usually just shove the paper wallet Qantas gives me inside, and discard it once I've got my luggage safely.

Not keen on shirt pockets. If I bend over, something could slip out, and if I get caught in a rainstorm, my passport could be an expensive mush.
