Hello all

Planning to travel to HCMC (SGN) from Sydney return, and would like to maximise the QFF points and status credits if possible.

The QF website shows a few options: SYD-SGN on VN metal with a QF codeshare; or QF to Singapore (SIN) and then a 3K codeshare to SGN.

Reading the QF website, and from searching the AFF website, it seems that the 3K codeshare does not accrue either ffp or SC even if booked as part of a QF marketed itinerary. Is this understanding correct?

Does the alternative flight option - VN metal with a QF codeshare - accrue either points or SC (and if so at what rate)?

Earning status credits is more important than earning points.

I am hopeful the AFF brains trust can assist me with making our travel plans.

Thanks in anticipation.

The flight under a QF number on VN metal will accrue at normal QF rates, on 3k it will also accrue of the class of fare is in the earning category, specifically B H Y and K only.

I can't comment on the VN aspect to your question but see the fare conditions using a dummy booking. However, I recall a mod saying to book the 3K sector separately to ensure sc earning. Presumably via the 3K website and after entering your FF number. This may effect interlining and cover in the event of delayed or cancelled departure. That was the feedback I received after I complained that I was still waiting for points to credit for SIN-SGN on QF/3K code share booked via .br.

Its worth checking the separate booking option both for the plus pack inclusion that locks in points etc and also the fare difference, of course you lose connection protection which is partly offset by the ability to change fares under a plus pack.
