Hi,

Hoping someone can help.

I found a Qantas F Reward on their website. It shows available, and takes me all the way to the final confirmation button, but then errors with a message to reselect and try again. I called Qantas and they advised it was an error (something to do with married fares?) and nothing they could do. I must add that the agent was very helpful and tried to secure something but to no avail. He ended up offering a J Reward that wasn’t available on this particular route. However I’ve since noticed (a week later) that the same F Reward continues to show on my Award Nexus search, and indeed on the Qantas website.

Is there anything I can do to push this a bit further (given it’s still listed as available), or is that just the way it works sometimes with website inaccuracies?

Cheers
David

The QF website isn't known for displaying phantom availability. How are you doing the search to return the F seat? And on which route? (you don't need to give a date). It is common to have F available LHR-SYD (via DXB), but to not be able to book the seat for either the LHR-DXB or DXB-SYD flights by themselves. .

Hi,

This was a Singapore to Melbourne leg QF36 per attached screen shot. So basically let’s me select all the way through, but when I confirm the screen errors out.

Cheers

Until what stage do you get before an error? I've found a sample date, it allows me to select, enter my passenger details, and then proceed to the payment page. (But obviously I can't go beyond that!)

You might need to ask the call centre agent to escalate the call - perhaps to the premium desk - to see why the system errors out.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Or
I can’t read the screenshot but was this through a multi city search?

It was a multi trip, but also comes up as a one way. When I originally booked I got the summary, checked the box to agree to T&C, then got the PAX screen, entered all my details, and finally went to last step to confirm booking - and it failed telling me to reselect. As per my original post, Qantas agent was helpful but just said it was an error and some complex fares display as available when not actual reward inventory. They checked multiple times and said definitely no reward, hence my error message. So just frustrating when site teases you with reward inventory (& still shows it now) but it’s not really available.

Cheers

Might be an error given it's a new route.

I booked a one way multi award trip online last week but couldn’t proceed to payment. I called up and they said it’s a known glitch but it was sorted out over the phone. It was available I just couldn’t finish payment online. I’d call again. I don’t think it’s a new route issue.

I get put through to the premium desk due to WP. Agents are mostly great. Try again.

I tend to agree - the only possible cause i can think of is that they have incorrectly loaded F fares into award inventory, which is then getting rejected at the payment stage. There's not much J class available on the flight, if any. But F seems wide open, which would be unusual as many would have snapped that up ex LON or SIN by now.

Thanks for the advice all, I might call back and query this one again. Second time lucky hopefully!

I don't know if this is related to the recent website update, but it seems that QF is showing some phantom award availability to HKG.
Here's a screenshot of the award seat on QF127. I can select the award and proceed through all the booking steps ( I also tried booking using the phone app and I can even select seats), but after confirming PAX details there is an error message and the payment page does not appear.

After trying to book a few times I decided to look at U availability using EF and unfortunately...there is no U. So QF seems to have created new IT issues they didn't even used to have in the past...

In the end I booked the direct CX flight, but I would have liked the First suite booked as U on QF127.

This is not abnormal behaviour for QF. Well, it is abnormal behaviour but it’s quite normal for QF to do this. Call them and see. When this has happened to me (frequently) they say that it’s the problem with the interconnection between them and the other airline. “We’ll fix it dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry, we’ll fix it.” I hear myself thinking, but to no avail it seems.

Very frustrating.

I am getting the same error tying to book melbourne to tokyo business class. I noted that there weren't any seats available, I have been waiting for a JL seat to open up.

I checked this morning and availability (edit: for seats on QF) was wide open. Then when I go to book on the website I get the same error message as you. I called up they said the seats weren't available. I asked them to check a range of dates that were all showing available on the website but they kept telling me on the phone the seats weren't there.

I'll keep waiting for the JL seats I guess.
