Slightly niche question - would QF F lounge in SYD or MEL accept guest who’s on CX economy standby (nonrev, myID) ticket; once they’re confirmed / seated boarding pass issued?

As a +1 guest of me as QF WP on rev QF or CX ticket (both travelling same day).

As far as I can tell it should be okay:

“1 One accompanying guest permitted and must be travelling on QF, JQ or oneworld® marketed and operated flight on the same day. “

# The flight number must be operated and marketed by a oneworld® carrier. A oneworld® marketed flight refers to a flight with a oneworld® flight number, eg QF1 or AA222. A oneworld® operated flight refers to the actual aircraft or 'metal' on which you fly, eg Finnair aircraft. Excludes oneworld connect partner flights.”

Should be ok if they have a OW BP.

I’ve guested a friend into the SYD QF F lounge when travelling on QF staff travel.

The QF staff travel rules allow you to guest a QF staff member. Not sure if that rule similarly applies to staff travellers of another OW airline.

If it doesn't, then the rules should be more explicit, frankly. What if someone working for an alliance airline chooses to credit to Qantas for their accrual purposes?

What has this got anything to do with working for an alliance airline? You don’t earn points or SCs on staff travel. This is about whether a revenue passenger who has status can guest in a non-revenue passenger. Nothing about who you credit to.

Qantas staff travel rules allow a staff member to be invited in to a lounge by a frequent flyer or Qantas club member on a revenue ticket. Whether that in practice that extends to those flying on staff travel tickets with other OW airlines then I expect YMMV.

My point here is: if you're on staff travel as an employee of another airline, but hold WP, then by the stated rules you're travelling on a OW ticket under your own steam as a QF WP..
Ergo, those rules state you should have access. By extension, it would therefore seem entirely unreasonable not to allow someone on a non revenue OW ticket not to be guested.

I’m fairly certain Qantas don’t allow access on non-revenue tickets.

I’m assuming the exclusion is on the ticket itself and doesn’t need to be in the general lounge rules.

It’s not like there isn’t already a boat load of exceptions to the oneworld lounge rules.

Not sure I understand what you’re saying but as soon as you are a non-revenue pax, your personal status does not mean anything and you are blocked from inputting FF details into a non-revenue booking. It does not matter with which airline you are flying nor what your status is, you are simply a non-revenue passenger. So to your point, no you are not flying under your own steam as a QF WP.

Qantas’ rules state you can be guested by another passenger with status who is on a revenue ticket. You cannot guest yourself in. It is possible that different restrictions apply to a CX staff travel ticket but that part is beyond my knowledge.

They generally don’t but there is an exception to the rules that allows a passenger on a non-revenue ticket to be guested in by a passenger with status or QP membership where that guesting passenger is on a revenue ticket themselves (ie when I fly on revenue tickets, as a WP, I have guested my father into the lounge who has been travelling on non-revenue tickets).
