I'm looking to travel SYD-LHR in early December for a month and was looking to book 2 F seats (i have approx 1.1m points). As a silver member ive been watching closely for any seats appearing and am yet to see anything. With the QF companion sale on i'm contemplating booking the seats with cash and points (horrible conversion rate). My question to the community is would it be likely for F seats to appear later in the year or should i just purchase via the companion sale as the pricing ($11k a seat) is the cheapest ive seen. I guess the other option is to but J seats and upgrade to F but i'm guessing that securing two F upgrades as silver would be low. Appreciate the assistance as a first time poster.

SYD-LHR particularly in December is a busy route and F awards are scarce at the best of times. If you can afford it and really want to go F I'd say just buy the tickets - think of the SCs you'll get if that helps justify it :)

Agree with opus. If you can afford it in both ways then do it

or take the J fare which isn't too bad - likely most a/c will be reconfigured by then (or enough to have a good shot at the suites) and still be pretty comfy (and perhaps put in for upgrade, though that would be unlikely for two).

It's unlikely seats would open up on QF. Maybe EK or QR as options (maybe look at SYD-ADL-DOH-LON (they serve LGW and LHR) as options.
