Hi all, was hoping you may be able to help with a question. In august this year I'll be taking our new family (wife, 1yo daughter and myself) to New Zealand (South Island) for 3 weeks of wintery goodness. I'm flying from Moranbah in Qld and I've seen EK do a flight on their 777 from SYD to CHC, which appeals as we'd like to do a bit of driving around the South Island.
Now I'm tossing up whether to have our child as a lap/bassinet passenger or seperate seat. Becuase of the EK option with the 777 I'm leading towards trying to grab a bulkhead seat with bassinet. How does one easily obtain these seats? I know QF do stipulate somewhere about calling, however I've heard EK (never flown with) don't do advance seat selection and seats are allocated at check-in? I would really like to have a bassinet seat option selected early so the stress levels are low as this will be first international flight with our child and my wife is stressed flying with her as is.
If left to QF or likewise with the narrow body option I'd probably take the hit for an additional seat, but don't really want to as I'm guessing I'll also need a baby harness/seat attachment as well.
Cheers for your time.
