QF Double Status Credits May 2026

I'll sit this one out, as my membership year ends in August and I've already earned more than enough SC's to requalify for Platinum.

Pity the DSC period doesn't extend beyond August, as I would have then given Qantas some money for a few flights, which they won't now get.

I just got the email - already qualify for WP so don't need it as it's all this year. Interesting timing and period.

Like most people, I only booked some QF flights for May over the last week or so. Also, the short window doesn't allow for much. I could maybe get a movie ticket just in case.

Refer to my airfare pattern in my earlier post, most of us not working lot
do have the luxury to book 6 weeks or more out as I have done.

It does leave August with no current bookings which was pending partners work arrangements

I don’t expect this campaign will stimulate bookings at the overpriced fares level

Pretty tempting as a status run for P1/Platinum Bonus... and to help test Tripwaffle 🤔
I worked it out before: to get P1 from a cold start and with all DSCs, you're looking at a minimum $15k.

I thought I read the rules and while DSCs count towards P1 (including the prerequisite SCs on QF flights), they don't count towards Platinum Reward at 2400 QF SCs (nor Loyalty Bonuses).

'Qantas will double the number of sought after status credits frequent flyers recieve [sic] as part of a major promotion designed to buoy demand as higher costs and interest rates take a toll of [sic] consumer sentiment.'

Are they going to blame AI for their poor spelling and reporting?

Under the new changes status credits are allowed to roll till next year. Assume this won’t work for the flights booked in this period as changes aren’t implemented?

Ah yes, I forgot about Platinum Bonus Reward's annoying special conditions. With upcoming bookings and not including DSC I will still be 12 SC short! 😅

Oddly enough this promo has actually cost qf money from my participation. Cancelled and rebooked my upcoming trip from flex y (paid $1950) into saver. I'll net the same number of SC, marginally fewer points (3 vs 4.8k each way), and saved about $800.

Interesting that this is also in parallel with (but excluded from) a "Southern Skies Red Tail Sale" for QF International southern hempishere flights (Sth Africa, Sth America, Pacific Islands, etc). Perhaps the narrower framing for the DSC promotion is because they wanted to run that sale at the same time, but not hand out DSC's for those.... 🤔

There’s rarely, if ever a Sale promo that straddles a DSC. So no real surprises.

For what it’s worth, the Sale fares aren’t the best (except NOU - not uncommon), but we booked SCL in J for $4.9k not that long ago).

Period ending August is hopefully suggestive of another DSC promo in September, with a more global remit.

Yes, that's my point—often they do a DSC promo first and then (shortly after) there is a sale.... I just wonder if this sale was already planned for this time, hence the geographic restriction on the DSC to just AU/NZ?

Probably not.
