New DSC promo out for Domestic and Trans-Tasman. Tighter travel period compared to normal.

For a limited time, enjoy double Status Credits or double Qantas Points on Qantas operated flights with a QF flight number within Australia and across the Tasman. Register in the Qantas App and book by 11 May 2026 for travel between 12 May 2026 and 31 August 2026.

Booked my work trip last week :(
Yeah, I just made a domestic booking a couple of days ago. Wasn't cheap, either. Damn.

Now have to cook up some other bookings, because by damn I need those DSCs.

The timing of the promo is curious, as is the limited scope.

Hmm interesting promo- i wonder if domestic future bookings (NZ included) are soft right now.
Considering QF just reduced the number of flights it offers across the network, bit curious. Then again, airfares haven't exactly shot through the roof either.

That’s a new right? Specific scope limitation and short travel window - something presumably must be up within QF. Either low booking outlook or lots of people on the brink of loosing status soon?

There's been other specific double SC offers, there was a trans tasman double SC offer when the AU/NZ bubble opened in 2021

Pasting the T&Cs here for longevity. Goodness, they're long.

I wonder how it would work if you booked AKL-APW with this offer? I know it's not trans-Tasman, but it shares a flight number with SYD-AKL so who knows how QF's famously good IT would interpret that.

I very much doubt it - otherwise JFK would work as it shares a flight number with SYD-AKL.

'Qantas will double the number of sought after status credits frequent flyers recieve [sic] as part of a major promotion designed to buoy demand as higher costs and interest rates take a toll of [sic] consumer sentiment.'

I would expect so

I notice “soft” patterns here from flights ex-Adel

1. QF are “stubbornly” higher priced.
2. The fare price pattern is a 2 (4) 6 week out from flight. 2 weeks out from the flying date, the price goes up. Theres an optional price step at 4 weeks out. By the 6 week out from flight date, the lowest price is consistently “on offer”

3. higher prices are nested around weekends

PS Syd - Melb doesn’t fit these “patterns” the lowest price ($187) lingers lower for longer… there’s the one price step (increase by $14) at 28 days out from departure. Upto around 4-5 days from departure the price is $201. Symptomatic of supply/demand …
