G'day all,

So has something changed in the last year or 2 regarding QF and FJ relationship?

The reason why I ask is that I just heard from my dad who is on his way back to LAX from PER. He is on QF PER-SYD and FJ SYD-LAX via NAN.

In prior years he was able to check-in his luggage at PER all the way to LAX even though his SYD-LAX via NAN flight was on FJ.

Today when he checked in at QF at PER he was told that they won't be able to check his luggage through on FJ and that he would have to claim it at SYD and recheck it there at FJ.

Also, they wouldnt honour FJ's two free checked bag policy and charged him extra for his second bag, when in the past they would honour the international connection bag policy.

Is this correct?

He is traveling economy and has no status.

???
:?:

Thanks,
Giles

Is he on one PNR?

Sounds like two seperate tickets. I dont believe FJ are part of one world alliance and I believe everyone has tightened up on interlining outside alliance.

OBB?

This is correct, since the booking isn't on the one ticket and FJ are not part of OW, the baggage has to be picked up and re-checked in at SYD fo the FJ flight.

No, all different PNR's. He booked each leg separately. (btw- how would one go about getting one PNR when booking your own flights?)

Too book it all in one booking you'd either need to book it through a TA, or just via the airlines website in one transaction.

Thank you TheInsider and Sprucegoose.

Just curious as to why this was possible in the past and not now especially considering that they codeshare on this route.

Is it just a matter of the QF staff being a little stubborn at PER?

Thanks again.

Thanks again.

Because they changed the rules, effective 3rd November 2010.

If the FJ operated flight was sold with a QF ticket number (i.e. Qantas marketed), the interlining would have been permitted.
