We don't get offered QC membership. In fact, it is company policy for them not to pay for ours.

We can package it though, we also get a corporate discount - but back to the topic of - earned vs bought.... I know I have 'earned' mine - BUT the company paid for most of my flights... so techncially I haven't done anything except sit on my butt - but hey, what's new?

Bolman,

I can see that you're quickly learning to fit in around here. This forum is all about learning how to sit on your butt comfortably and efficiently. :D :D

Hey All,

I remember the days when you were given lounge access when flying business/first or even "businessfirst" domestically, remember that?? I only fly 8 - 14 times per year and always fly J within Australia or First internationally. I have lifetime QC thanks to my ex employer in 1997 so I always get my money's worth!! I would love to have a quieter part of the lounge for J travellers. I am always mindful to avoid peak flying times but I do notice that MEL & SYD QC are really packed! The new QC in ADL is fantastic!I would NEVER wait out in the terminal though so I think the lounges are relevant. I now always fly EMIRATES when possible and I think they could show QF a thing or two about how to set up a lounge. I can't wait to see the new Melbourne lounge this Saturday. If anyone has been it it yet please let me know!!!

NZ still has lounge access for all business pax (except airline employees), but sadly no business domestically.

I was reminded of the value of domestic lounges the other day when we were stuck in ZQN gate area (locked in) for a few hours - ZQN has no QF lounge.

You are probably a very nice person but I always travel ecomony class domestically, dress very smartly, behave like a gentleman and I would love to be in a very quiet part of the lounge that does not have any business class or first class passengers who think they are better than anyone else.

Australian carriers always had lounge access for F passengers donestically, and F and J passengers internationally. All others were able to purchase lounge access, either through TN's Flight Deck or AN's Golden Wing. (At one stage, BA Executive Club allowed you to purchase lounge access, available on both AN AND TN - was an absolute bargain).

Then, domestic F was abolished. But the status quo remained, domestic J did not get you into the lounge, international J did.

So it has been that way for a long time.

Now now JohnK, I think you are reading too much into my comments!
There are loud and quiet people who travel in every class. Just as there are those who think they are better than others in EVERY class of travel. My choice to fly J domestically and First internationally is more about my fear of flying than my thinking that I am better than anyone else. If you did actually get to meet me you would find me very down to earth and my desire for a quiet area is about getting myself ready for the flight. I can always be seen at the QC prior to every flight (I can only do PM flights as the bar needs to be open) I am the one ordering "scotch and coke and scotch on the rocks" (for my friend....not) I need this, along with a quiet space for pre flight jitters. My point about another area for J or First really is that there would be so many less people in it!
