I am clear on QF international Y-J upgrades - yield management deals with upgrade requests in the 24 hours before flight departure.
How does it work domestically?
For example, if I am travelling [2 passengers] from Melbourne to Perth (return) - I have checked via a dummy FF redemption booking - there is one business redemption seat MEL to PER however at least 2 business redemption seats PER to MEL.
Does this mean that if I buy upgradeable flights in both directions and lodge points upgrade requests that:
(1) MEL to PER will be treated as per international upgrade - ie dealt with by yield management in 24 hours before flight departure [because there is only one business redemption seat available now]?
(2) PER to MEL will be confirmed immediately that the points upgrade request is lodged [because there are 2 business redemption seats available now]?
thanks
