I doubt QF will restart with a 738, they might have excess A330's with the domestic capacity freeze & JQ A330's coming over to QF.
I doubt it will be an A330 for 2 reasons,
1.) in the article it mentions they have a plan B, which would mean its different from Plan A (their original PER-SIN service).
2.) if they couldn't make it work on an A330 a few months ago, whats changed all of a sudden that it could work.
I have flown 737's on Air Pacific (Fiji Airways) before from MEL-NAN which is about the same length as PER-SIN, and it was perfectly fine, a bit squishy but doable, any longer than 4.5-5 hours then it becomes a bit of a drag, or even a night flight can be annoying.
But with QF stranger things have happened, so anyone's guess!
If QF had an "excess" A330, they'd use it to retire a 767 or 747.I doubt QF will restart with a 738, they might have excess A330's with the domestic capacity freeze & JQ A330's coming over to QF.

SIN-HKT is most likely an A320. Single aisle and very squeezy.Great news if it happens,at lot of comments about the A 737, can't remember flying on one , what seems to be the problem ? Is it comfort with the seating very close together? Flew Jetstar Asia recently from Sin-coughet can't remember what plane it was but the seats were on top of each other?

I doubt crew hours would allow a same day return- it would be, what 4.5 hours flight time each way? With the turnaround it would be an 11+ hour day- I'm pretty sure the unions have ensured that won't happen.
A tag flight like that would be a great opportunity to visit the ADL F lounge - oh wait...<snip>
And how about timing the afternoon flight (or even using the same aircraft) to permit ADL-PER-SIN. Ditto for the morning flight exSIN.
Happy wandering
Fred
