Just thought it would be good to share that a friend of mine was offered an "exclusive" invitation to purchase access to QF club in Sydney as part of a connection from QF7 then to Melb. She has no QF status, in fact, don't think she has even signed to QFF but will be flying with them to USA

When clicking on the option it's offering $49 for QF Club access or 7 000 QF points. Also gives the option to guest someone as part of it.

What do people think about this? I wouldn't personally use points or pay for what you get in QF Club.

This has been around for a few years new - they seem to be charging what the going rate is for passes on Gumtree

Do they have to offer it or can people just ask for access at the desk?
Have to offer it, online only.

Thanks for the reference, I did not know. Any clues on how people become eligible for this? It puzzles me as much as the upgrade bid process.
Probably more off-peak times and non frequent flyers or bronze/silver Frequent Flyers.

We just flew SYD-HNL-SYD and were offered access to buy in both SYD and HNL, despite having online lounge passes already assigned to each lounge, on our booking.
From memory SYD access was offered at $59 and HNL access at $45
Our 2 kids (aged 7 and 9) also received offers.
We fronted up at SYD with our online passes just for myself and my wife, assuming kids were no problem to accompany us on our passes, as has been done often in the past.
At the lounge entrance we were told that "now, anyone over 2 has to have an actual pass/invitation assigned to their boarding pass, and kids over 2 can no longer accompany adults, with no pass".
They did let the kids go through without a pass "this time, but they are clamping down on it".
HNL was no problem with the kids coming in on our passes (but not really a lounge worth wasting passes on anyway)
