I'm travelling DRW-BNE then a week or so later BNE-SYD-LAX. These two are on separate PNRs.

I'm guessing the separate PNRs will be my downfall, but what are the chances of getting a second checked bag through on the DRW-BNE sector?

It all depends on who you talk to at the airport. I have traveled with additional luggage and explained why - usually similar to you where there is an onward leg.
Never hurts to ask.

Time between flights is your issue. I had a group of 30 fly out to Jakarta but got stung for extra baggage on QFlink flights a few days prior even though all under weight. No bargaining at all.

Yeh i got stung on a BNE to SYD flight after coming back from HK.
I was under my combined allowance in 2 bags but since i was only allowed one they charged me.
Someone on here suggested I should have got one of those giant red and blue stripped bags and put my bags in that. So I would have had 1 oversized checkin bag which was under the weight limit meaning they would have likely accepted it with no extra charge.

One of the things to remember when I fall from (WP) grace next year.

Thanks gaz0303, I hadn't seen that. The only reason they're on different PNRs is because I'm coming home before the FO & SO. I guess I'm up for the extra bag.

Or I leave the golf clubs at home. :o That's not an option, who am I kidding.
