QF Award Flights , Can they be purchased for other than family members

Can a Award flight be booked for someone other than family. I have always thought it was not possible. Recently a colleague told me they purchased Mel-Sin return. Were they just lucky or is this possible

In summary - It's against the rules of the Qantas FF scheme and could lead to your account being terminated. In practice, it is a grey area.

Edit: Never mind, I can't read. FWIW, I've found them to be pretty easy-going if you tell them the other person is a de-facto.
