Hi

I am looking to book Perth to Bkk on 18 August as a QF award flight and have 2 options come up but QF can't confirm the answers to my following questions.....maybe you guys know:

Flight option 1
Jetstar Asia to SIN then Jetstar Asia to BKK

Q1) Flight only includes 20kg but I need 30kg, QF didnt know if I could buy extra 10kg and Jetstar doesn't know either until I book the ticket...they "think" it "may" cost an extra $75.

Anyone been in same situation and know the answer?

Flight option 2
Same Jetstar Asia flight to SIN
9 hour layover then
Cathy Pacific to BKK in Business

Q2) Again ticket is 20kg, QF didn't know if I can buy extra 10kg, Jetstar Asia said I could but didnt know price and Cathy doesn't know if I will be allowed extra 10kg on my 20kg business class flight.

Also with a 9 hour layover Jetstar Asia couldn't confirm my baggage checked through to BKK also Cathy plus QF couldn't confirm either.

If allowed 30kg luggage checked all way through to BKK then I sit in Business class lounge for 9 hour in SIN no problem.

So anyone come across same situation?

Thanks

You can add to your checked luggage allowance by going into manage your booking.
If it's a Jetstar Asia flight - 3K then use the Jetstar website.
Generally an award flight will be for that flight PER-SIN only. You will have to recheck bags. Though SIN airport can recheck the bags for you without you having to collect bags - see transfer counter there. Not sure if 3K is eligible

The person who would know is AFF member JohnK

Apologies but I haven't done a JQ only award.

I have done EK-3K award and the 30kg luggage is honoured on 3K. I have then gone into booking and purchased a seat on the 3K leg. I have another of these bookings coming up in 2 weeks. I can't see why you couldn't add 10kg onto the booking but from what I understand the 10kg will be a little more expensive than if the 10kg was added at booking time. It's treated as a change.

There's no way to book the QF flight to SIN?

Don't worry about connection in SIN. Luggage shoukd be checked through but if not you can use transfer desk D in SIN for onward 3K flight or transfer desk C for onward CX flight.

The Transfer desks in SIN are all airside - when you step off the airplane you go to the transfer desk, show them your tickets and they will intercept your luggage retag them and send it on its way - for free

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Ok thanks for that,

no unfortunately they not offering a QF flight unless I go PER to MEL or SYD, which is then a 24 hour trip to BKK.

The only flight to SIN is Jetstar and onward to BKK, so Jetstar all the way through.

with your Ek-3k flight coming up in 2 weeks, any chance you can log into the Jetstar ticket and see if they allow extra 10kg purchase above your 30kg and let me know how much that is?

thanks

It is a little confusing.

There is a link to the Jetstar Asia website from My Bookings on QF website. I am presented with 3 options.

- Bag bursting? Add extra baggage from only $13 or add an oversized item
- Grab a great seat! Pick your own seat for only $5.79
- Blanket, pillow and more! Cosy into a Comfort Pack from $12.00

When I click on bag bursting there is mention of 0kg included which is obviously wrong for me and here are the other options

- 15kg $27.99
- 20kg $30.88
- 25kg $38.60
- 30kg $51.15
- 35kg $69.48
- 40kg $83.00

I took the JQ 25kg extra and brought back this 22KG 1.2m solid wood caving beauty from Bali.
