so this just dropped into my inbox. there hasn't been any significant ex-NZ sales from QF for a while. I suspect loads aren't as great. relatively ok in terms of price for J ex-akl
lax/dfw/sfo is via Syd (extra status credits 80 each to Syd in Syd)
jfk is direct on QF 3/4

J is 6599 NZD / W 2999 NZD return for lax/sfo
J is 7499 NZD / W 3599 NZD return for jfk/dfw
lowest I've seen US in last few years is AA which I think was 6400 NZD ish about 12 months ago to dfw. Possibly cheaper than flying out of Syd/Mel if you want red roo flying
