I am curious though, I've never flown Y+ on any flight and was wondering what the real upside or downside is over Y or J ?
Is the seat not larger? But still receiving Y food and service?
I've done Y+ on the 747, not 380 (yet). For my height, I value the extra space, and even if the seat reclines in front of me it's not as claustrophobic. The food is a step, not leap, above Y. And wine comes from big bottles, not individual sized ones.
On my trip last month I did SYD-DFW in Y in the A380 Y upstairs cabin, seat 32A. Small cabin, window seat so I had the storage bin, and bulkhead so enough space to not inconvenience the pax at the aisle when I went to the loo, etc (I normally prefer aisle seats, but like the storage bins). Personal service in this cabin, as you share the FAs with Y+, but are served after Y+.
Flew home in (upgraded on points) 36G, aisle seat bulkhead in Y+ on the 747. What I preferred:
* No chicken PECKING at my head every time they touched the freaking IFE screen. I am tool mild mannered at times, this was one of them - the Y flight over. Tap tap tap tap flippety tap tap!!!! :evil:
* Nicer meal service
* Decent access to loo during flight, minimal waiting (better than J!!)
* Similar personal service compared to the mini cabin.
* Real bottles of wine
* Y+ is easier to upgrade to J on points (this trip was work paid, and Y; our personal trips are typically Y+ and attempt to upgrde on points.
