QF A380 to DFW; QF9/10 retiming

Has anyone managed to find any F seats on DFW-SYD for next year ?
I tried looking for April and couldn't even find one seat...

Never mind P class...U and Z are non-existent. I suspect there is still some adjustment to happen to the yield management given the aircraft change.

Nearly 17 hours on the return DFW-SYD... thats a hard core flight . I definitely won't be doing that in Y , if I ever use it . Now having a choice to avoid LAX both ways is definitely a plus.

Seems like the non-stop QF8 DFW-SYD flights are now available to book on the QF website (at least for some dates). On the date I'm looking at, Oct 25, departs DFW at 21:15, arriving SYD at 06:05, so a total travel time of 16 hr 50 min. 16 hr 55 min on some other dates.

I think this wins for world longest flight ? Hkg-JFK I thought was up there but it's a full hour shorter than Dfw-syd.

re. what happens to us bunnies who were booked and had paid for Y+ on QF8 down to SYD from BNE.

We get a big red box on our booking telling us -
'Please note that the Airline has cancelled one or more of your selected flights. Please modify your reservation, or contact your travel agent for further information. (9115)
They've put us on QF503 leaving BNE at 5.30am for the QF127 11:25am departure. I so am not selecting confirm for that flight!

At least QF127 is still showing as an A380. Maybe not for long?

Time to give Q a call

Sounds like you're flying after SYD has begun DST, in which case QF503 would arrive at ~8am SYD time. You could possibly move later by one or two flights comfortably but that would be about it.

Yep, sadly we will be in the Qld timewarp by then but an 8am arrival, after we would/should have been checked in and bags checked through seems a tad early, even taking into account going through immigration in Sydney.
Maybe it's so that can we experience the Sydney lounge for longer? Surely that's the reason ;)

Haven't read all the threads BUT I'M NOT HAPPY EITHER, JAN. Booked to return from US via DFW to BN early November but it is not happening now. We have to do that long flight to Sydney and then fly to Brisbane 2 hours later. I am really not very happy at all. Last trip we had to do a refuel in Aukland due to headwinds but at least at the end we were almost in our home town not a further 4 or 5 hours away.

Can you go via LAX to BNE?

Youll live. I think the vast majority of travelers would prefer a direct A380 flight to SYD than a 747 flight that has to go via BNE.

Well not those that live in BNE!!

The vast majority of travellers live in SYD and MEL and they would prefer the A380 service.
What's the big deal to catch another 1 hour flight to BNE?! I live in MEL and still most of my international flights depart from and arrive to SYD, so I take another short flight to get back home, no dramas.

My take is very similar to yours. When travelling long haul I look at options to and from SYD/MEL/BNE. This is no different IMO to looking at flights to Europe arriving / departing from CDG/DUB/MAN/LHR.

Nor those that live in PER, ASP or DRW who would have better connections. And those in ADL at about the same total time without needing to transit SYD.

Come on AA bring on LAX-AKL that will connect with QF's seasonal AKL-PER flights.

Happy wandering

What if QF used 789s to fly PER-AKL-DFW? Now there's an idea.

Then what's the big deal for SYD people about having to catch a 1 hour flight to SYD after landing at BNE?

I have really enjoyed being able to fly direct DFW-BNE, and then go straight home. Having to do the SYD stop will add about 4 hours to the journey - that's the 'big deal'.

It's not as if there was a shortage of direct flights to SYD........ perhaps QANTAS should be renamed SAMAS ??

Just face it.... nobody wants to go to Brisbane

I think the A380 flights to/from SYD - DFW are fantastic. Living in Perth without any QF International departures, going PER - SYD - DFW is perfect. Many times the DFW - BNE has to divert for refuelling anyway. Those quibbling about BNE being taken out of the return leg need to get a better appreciation of distances than living within an hour between capital cities. You take a plane for the long distances,, for shorter distances drive your car. Good job Qantas.

You should be on the QF board with that attitude. They also think that there is nobody outside of SYD and MEL. BTW, it's a pretty pathetic and narrow minded attitude too.

BNE - a pimple on the backside when flying DFW-(BNE)-SYD. ;)
