Got a notification today to say QF77 PER - SIN has changed from 9-50 am back to 7-50 am in July , anyone know if this is going to be perminant?

Who knows, the international flight times out of PER have changed many a time.

3 of my flights have changed April,June,October do looks like a permanent change.

I also got a notification for my April trip booked through expedia.br Would a two hour difference be enough reason to allow for itinerary changes e.g. to the next day?

My mid March booking still shows 9.05 departure. That's plenty early enough for me - I don't fire too well early in the morning.

Interesting. Any change to qf78 or other sin timings?

I have got a change to the next day on a 30 minute change on a .br fare. Second QF rep put it through - no Portuguese lessons required.

QF line will change the flight for you? Do you know if this flight change allows you to cancel and refund?

No idea. To be honest, I expected to be told to call Sao Paolo, but the QF rep changed it for me and I received a new itinerary in about 10 minutes. If you want to try, it can't hurt to ask. The worst they could say is an outright no, or tell you to call the booking travel agent.

PS: Not that it matters, but the flight wasn't on QF77/78.

The official notification is up on the QF agents site:

Qantas has retimed its Perth-Singapore service, effective for flights departing on/after 30 March 2014.

QF77 will depart Perth almost two hours earlier at 0800, arriving into Singapore at 1335. The improved departure time will provide customers more time in Singapore in the afternoon for business or leisure.

More preferable time imo, as you would be getting to the airport before peak time on the roads, unlike the later departure time.

That's kind of an odd reasoning they've offered. It would be just as correct to re-time it two hours later and say 'The new time allows customers more time at home before departing for their journey'.

I wonder if this might lead to a close of the Qantas lounge for a couple of hours each day. Without checking I think there's a CX departure some days about 7.30am. Beyond that, NZ and SA use the lounge but their departures are night time. It may be that the only flights are JQ and QF might see that as perfect opportunity to put the closed sign up for a couple of hours.

Maybe they are looking at a new route or reactivation of an old one that utilises the plane, it would allow for a flight back to Melbourne say in the day while the Melbourne plane could then head to Perth?

Whats happening there at QF? Now they reschedule their flights to SIN to be almost identical to the JQ flights at those hours. Looking at April and we have QF leaving at 8am, and JQ at 8.10am. Returning at 6.20pm for QF and 5.50pm for JQ. Considering they dont have the same number of flights as SQ you'd think they'd schedule their planes are different hours....

Customers? Why worry about them.

Well, the conspiracy theorists would say they're trying to kill QFi. Seems like a decent way to go if that's the aim…..

I'm happy with the change. Gives my weekends there 2 extra hours! That's all valuable roti prata time ;)

The lounge can't easily close just because of this. It is a contact lounge for several other airlines, including Thai at 9am.
