QF 747-400 area in front of seats 23A-B

It is a baby change toilet.

This does not exclude anyone else from using it, just that if you have a baby to change these are the ones with better facilities for doing that.

On the 3-class aircraft, the area in front of row 23 is for the exclusive use of First Class passengers.

On the 2-class 747-400 (typically used on SYD-SIN-FRA, MEL-AKL-LAX and BNE-LAX routes), the toilet is available for all business class passengers.

I think we are referring to a 4 class aircraft, and I don't recall bus class pax coming back to the premium economy area!

Thanks guys,
We've been assigned seats 24JK and thought if that was a void area in front of 23AB we'd changed our seats to 24AB to get away from toilets but still be near the front.

Do you see any advantage from moving from 24JK to 24AB or should we stay put.

(BTW row 23 is already taken so can't move further forward )

Row 23 always business class on all QF 747-400 configurations :confused:.

Where First Class exists on the aircraft, the area in front of row 23 (known as Zone A) is for First Class only, including the toilets. Row 23 business class passengers use the toilets near the stairs to the upper deck.

Where first class does not exist, the Zone-A is used for business class, and row23 business class passengers use the Zone-A toilets in front of row 23.

What I meant was, sitting in PE I did not notice bus class passengers coming back to use the toilets aft of business class (and in fron of PE). The again I wasn't really paying attention to that.

It's a 4 class aircraft so 1st class exists. Can't business class passengers use the toilets in front of seats 23JK ??
I interput your post to mean J passengers on a 4 class flight have to use toilets in Prem econom ??

Here's a link to QF's seat map for a 4 class 744:

http://www.qantas.com.au/infodetail/flying/inTheAir/ourAircraft/744-14P52J32PY255Y.pdf (warning: 3Mbytes)

On Qantas 744's with First Class, the toilets near doors L1 and R1 are reserved for First Class Passengers.

I don't know the answer to what facilities Y+ PAX would get to use as I have not travelled in that class (nor would I pay and/or use points to).

I think, having read this, what is supposed to happen is the the J passengers use the facilities behind J and in front of Y+, and the Y+ passengers use the toilets behind row 40. Now, whether that is what happens in practice on all occasions, it would seem not, but I think the crew were a little confused about a few things on the flight I had in Y+.

FWIW, I would pay to be in Y+, now that I have had my op-up taster of it!

OT:

Currently, for me op-up would be the only way. On these flights, 90% of the time I'm either in my pre-allocated WHY exit-aisle seat or have had a successful points to upgrade to J.

First Class passengers use the toilets at doors 1

Business Class passengers use the toilets near doors 2 and and on the upper deck

Premium Economy and Economy passengers share the toilets at doors 3

Referring back to the map link, those toilets near door 1 (in front of row 23) seem to be accessable to J seats. Are they closed off from bus class passengers with a curtain or something else as it does not look like there's a fixture blocking J passengers accessing those toilets that are there.

There are curtains that are drawn closed for cruise.

Also there are signs on the bulkheads in front of row 23 - something like:

FIRST CLASS ONLY PAST THIS POINT
EXECEPT IN AN EMERGENCY

Op-up would be the only hope I have of trying out premium economy unless QF drastically reduce the cost of the premium economy airfares.
