I have not reported the card lost or stolen, but by all means of usage, its gone belly up.
I will ring tomorrow to that UK place and get the card replaced, exp date is not till 2018!
Thanks for any one elses feeback.

Nope. Used my card in AKL at several venues today and this evening without issue.

Yes, Qantas Cash Card.
As to the other, VGW is Velocity Global Wallet.
A dim lamp bulb just clicked in my grey matter, it might be because my SG card is going to come out, just maybe?/!
But that would need activation.
Bah humbug.
Feel like a dead bird by the side of the road, ... sorry, ok, will have to do better.
But truthfully, the QCC won't work.
Tried it 3 tap times at OTR (on the run), which might have negated the card's usage!
At least I now know that card merchants do check the validity of the cards, OTR store said declined, came home, tried bpay, declined. Had a look at my mail for an ongoing debit, declined.
Double bah!

I take it that there is cash in the correct currency on the card? Is this the same card as your FF one? Have heard of enough situations where they don't work to decide to forego the cash part.

I doubt this is the cause but I was recently caught out by a significant flaw in the QCC.
It turns out that on a recent trip to Japan I somehow took the Yen balance to about negative ¥5000 (AUD $50).

There are two problems with this.

Firstly this not meant to be possible.

Secondly, and possibly more significantly, both the website and telephone balance checks WILL NOT show a negative balance.
The ¥ balance is shown as zero and the negative is also not included in the available funds total.
This last fact is how I stumbled across it as I topped up the funds with a particular purchase in mind and had to contact Qantas to find out why my purchase failed. Basically the "invisible" negative balance Yen balance meant I had about $50 less available funds than the web site actually showed.

Luckily (for Qantas ?) the downloadable statements do show the negative balance. As I relied on the website while traveling I had not seen this.

Qantas is meant to be investigating how the negative balance occurred and getting back to me. I presume (hope ?) the web site and telephone balance check will be corrected.

How did you get expiry to 2018? My last two cards have had expiry of 2 months after my status expiring (ie 1 year 2 monts validity). Gonna have to check my new SG card when I get home from my trip next month and then 1 month later check my plat card hahah.

I suspect that Poochie is not talking about the Cash Card (linked to the FF card) but rather an account (MasterCard/Visa possibly debit) through another financial institution that earns QFF points. Also why is there a UK number to ring?
Perhaps they will let us know.

Entry level and lifetime cards have that

Poochie has previously mentioned sticking with the NB card for Qantas Cash rather than activating the PS (or SG) one.

All my 6 test transactions were declined, either at shos (EFTPOS) or online for bpays, but the odd thing, is that they all appear as pending on my QCC online statement.
Will wait for a few days, activate my QCC SG and spend on that for the next 12 months, then think about going back to either QCC PS/QCC NB.
Havent called up the overseas QCC call centre yet.
Edit: no, no lifetime card.
Think that just maybe the QCC SG does negate the QCC NB. I haven't received the QCC SG card yet, do have the QCC PS though, havent activated that.
Decision, decisions.
OK, final decision: will activate my QCC PS card, and use that for the next year.
Thanks everyone. Sorry for my usual balderdash.

Sir, for dinner tonight, we have the tortilini (sp) with prosciuto (sp) or the chicken curry..., yes, yes, I know, yawn. You know you want to.
Even if you phone 131131, and press the numbers, to get to QCC, you don't get to speak to Heritage Bank's contact centre, by the mere fact of you pressing those numbers, you get palmed off to the Mastercard contact centre in the UK.
Opusman, 2018 is the exp of my QCC NB.

Thanks for the info Poochie. It's a very confusing set up if one tier card, automatically negates the use of the other, but I have heard of this happening and in a few cases, where people were OS and had loaded currency onto their card - whammo not accepted. That would be awful.
Interesting that the phone defaults to UK and also the expiry date of your card.
Good luck on resolving the issue.

So cute to hear a British accent!
Both for Sabrina and also the automatic voice.
Giggly poochie.
If you keep pressing 4, you can try if you want to test and just have your PIN read back to you in a British accent, phone for the cost of about 30cents, 131131, and press 4, 4, and you hit the jackpot.
No option to wanting to speak to an Aussie.
With you picking QCC enquiry/inquiry, it goes straight to the UK.
And if you have activate a card, you keep pressing till it reads the 4 digit QCC MC debit PIN read back to you.
Otherwise its not activated.
I must admit, it took 11 mins of my life!
Go on, try it, call and go to the QCC section of 131131.

After having the 4 digit PIN read back to me, I went to another website to see if the QCC PS card works, and yes, it does.
When I activated my QCC NB, it was via the automatic system, this time, twice it said, words to the effect that my identity couldnt be vertified, so I had to speak to a person.
Pressed in my 16 digit number, card expiry, 3 CVC, then passed me to a person, proof of id, ie, your or in this case my name, date of birth, and mothers name, surname asked to be spelt.
She then sent me back to the auto system, she mentioned to stay on the line till my PIN was read back to me, same one as QCC NB.
Anyway, it all works now, and the QCC PS card is usable.
I know a lot of the time, I don't make a lot of sense, but I think it was mentioned on here, it was a pain for some to activate the card, I never thought it was, as I went through the auto system first time, but yeair, its a pain.
I am like the needy pet pooch, who always has to be the centre of attention, or more so a self centred pet car, Opusman. Sorry, yes, averted.
What happens when the QCC SG card comes, eek indeed.
Takes a long time.
Still don't know what was wrong with my QCC NB, I didnt want to complicate the girl.
Ok, will now read up on here only.

Well at least that's sorted. Did it ever work or did you think it has accepted your pin when in fact it hadn't? That's why I don't use the card for cash - have enough cards anyway :D

Is it normal for the purchases done overseas to take a while to make their way onto your history and deduct credit from your account? I bought things in Hong Kong yesterday (At McDonalds) and then some stuff today and by balance has not updated, while whenever I make a purchase in Melbourne it appears instantly.

From when the QCC NB was issued about 6/7/8 months or so ago, it was perfect, worked a treat, even in NZ, and I loved the card, used it all the time.
Then at BP, it stopped, lucky I had other cards, ie, VGW, which worked.
Then, yesterday, I thought I would give it one more go at BP, 3 times it declined, I think, and I say think, this probably stopped all the other transactions. Mind you, they do appear in Pending.
In the end, I will keep using the QCC and VGW.
Hopefully, no one else will ever have a declined transaction under QCC, esp if you know you have got money in the card account. As I mentioned, activation the first time for the QCC NB was easy, this time harder, more time consuming.
Maybe dont use QCC at any BP outlet. OR if your QCC is declined more than once, use another card, and then try the QCC at another outlets EFTPOS.
Preauthorisations, yes, I know its said not to use the QCC for that, but the Rydges Latimer wouldnt accept a Visa or MasterCard Debit, only would accept the Platinum Prepaid ie QCC, so had to use that for preauthorisation, and it was a minus off my account straight away.
While in NZ too, I did use the QCC and VGW at superettes, and the minus ie Pending transaction occurred immediately.
I checked on my ipod and pocket wifi while in NZ. QCC and VGW use our FF # as keys to log into each, so it couldnt be that someone had tapped my account to lock it
