Am I missing something serfty?

I got this offer too but it is for load AU$1,000 equivalent and get $15 cash back (more or less) not spend $30 for $15 cash back

The built in Forex arbitrage is ~3%, so that $15 cash back cost ~$30.

Note though that if you can spend the full $10000 on Forex with this you are effectively buying 10K points for ~$300 or ~1½¢ each (normally ~3¢).

I thought that when this card first came out, the maths didn't add up with the terrible exchange rates?

Still aren't so great (the exchange rates). You have to work out whether you want one free flight MEL-SYD getting points through this card or two free flights using 28 degrees or Citibank for the same spend.

The current offer of $15 back for every $1000 makes a tiny difference to the exchange rate, but still no comparison to Citi or 28.

Yes thanks. Also, the Bank West Plat card had comparable exchange rates to Citi and 28D, with added bonus of QF points at rate of .66 I think it is.

We know our rates are terrible but we will try and entice you with freebies; more of a reason to give this card a miss.

On top of that you have to add the international withdrawal fees. For Thailand the QF cash page only shows a fee of 70Baht - and doesn't add the extra 150Baht government tax on withdrawals - making a whopping 220Baht (AUD8) withdrawal fee per time!
