Hi all

I have recently become a Qatar Privilege Member (as I flew to the UK from Sydney with my family, but the fares were not eligible for QFF points). When looking at the Qatar program, it seems I can add my two sons onto my account, rather than them having their own...but I am unclear about whetehr I would get the full Qmiles and Qpoints or just 25%? Do I even get the Qpoints?

If anyone could advise, I would be grateful!

Thanks

As per their website your family can only give you their Qmiles, not QPoints. Burgundy (base) main members will only receive 25% of their family's Qmiles and silver 50% and Gold and Platinum 100% i.e. best to only accrue Qmiles once you're Gold. But non airline partner activity accrues at 100% i.e. if your sons or wife get a rental car then that activity would pool to you at 100%.

Other options for accrual for your flight are to AA where you can actually "buy" the miles from your family's account at a reduced rate than what they are on sale for with promo's. You can also buy more miles to top up for a reward from AA.

Qmiles are good for upgrades if you think you'll accrue enough but expire after 3yrs unless you are platinum or pay for the 4th yr extension. Alternatively you can convert them to Accor Points or if you have Accor points you can convert them to Qmiles to help you get to an upgrade.

If you have any status with QF apart from Bronze I think you can aim for the upper deck economy on their A380s which seems less cramped. Otherwise available to I think QR silver and above.
