I can only assume the Air Services Agreement between Australia & Qatar has been updated to allow Qatar to do more than 21 flights per week into SYD, MEL, PER & BNE?

I tried to find a current version, but the BITRE website just says the ASA is currently being negotiated.

Given most other international airlines have pulled out of BNE, it would surely be an own goal by the Australian government not to let QR fly to BNE...

ADL (like CBR) is considered regional and doesn't fall under the 21/week cap. PER, MEL, SYD and BNE are metro and do fall under it. The agreement must have been updated to make it 28/week.
Slightly OT but you mentioned ADL. Just got notified that Qatar has cancelled my May flight and then another email advised a different departure day so all being confused I called them. And they did book on the next day so they have changed their ADL schedule but also changed the plane from 350 to 777. Still Q suite config though. Phew. Then mentioned there would be no charge to me. Well of course not because I didn’t cancel the flight!

Most likely upgauged as AKL is going to be tagged to ADL instead of BNE when BNE goes daily. Hopefully this means BNE will get the A35K back.

Daily flights effective 1 March, bringing frequency in line with EK (currently B777-300ER) while EY has not resumed services:

Unfortunately EY isn't likely to resume BNE for the foreseeable future.

Only chance IMO of seeing the whole ME3 line-up in BNE is if EY considers applying for the Queensland Government's International Airline Subsidy program if they consider the Qld subsidy may help with operating flights into BNE.

Had a desultory hunt around and not much in the way of international bargains out of BNE at the moment either.

Cheers skip

That would be great.

Surely there is still some sort of relation between Etihad and Virgin as the EY*VA agreements are still quite vast... I wonder if and when VA will reinstate codeshares on EY metal - seems in April 2022 but we haven't heard anything in the last months. I really hope we will hear more soon.

We really need more airlines flying to Brisbane, quite a sad reality with what we have at the moment.

The old EY/VA (ACCC) agreement has since expired, although they have (or are in the process of) restoring the codeshare and FF reciprocation agreement.

Although IIRC, EY still has Carrier 'Surcharges' for booking reward seats.
