Good morning. I have recently flown business on Qatar from MAD-DOH-PER and got the points credited to my QF account (I did some research after and found out I would have been better off crediting them to Qatar if I had an account since Qatar offers better value to get to oneworld ruby etc?). Last week I flew Qatar again in economy from EZE-DOH-PER and was expecting discount economy credit and points, turns out I got 0 for both flights... I called Qantas and they said it was because the fare code did not earn any points with Qantas - I have no idea where I could find that information because the calculator on the Qantas site said discount economy still earnt points. Is it possible for me to open an account with Qatar and get the flights credited to there since I didn't receive anything from Qantas? I will be flying a lot more with Qatar than Qantas this year.

I flew Discount Economy with Qatar last year with zero points and credits earned. Before booking, I did a quick "Qantas Points Qatar" Google search which presents a table of eligible booking classes and the earn rates:

Booking Class
YBHKMLV
JCDI
AFP

Points Base earn rate (per mile or 1.609km)
0.25
75%
100%

The above shows Qatar earn rates for Economy, Business then First.

My booking was "O" class but well worth it for a 787 experience and the price!

I agree that the the calculator shows Discount Economy as earning but I believe its still class specific.

Yes I've just noticed this also. I was going to book Sofia to Casablanca (the long way around!), but noticed its in N class which doesn't give me points. Anyway I'm going to get a business class fare now, because for the $1000 fare, I earn 180 SC which is good and means I retain status. Plus its an overnight flight via Doha so the extra comfort is worth it. $1000 in Australia is only like to net you around 80 SC !
