Qatar Airlines and other QFF partners

Good morning all! I'm a long time lurker and first time poster.

Firstly I'd just like to thank everybody for their advice so far. I've learnt so much just reading through posts over the last few months.

I have a few quick questions that I'm sure all the more experienced travellers than me will be able to answer very easily.

I'm about to embark on my first European adventure. My mother has paid for a surprise trip to London and Ireland for her and myself in September. We're flying Qatar PER-LHR. We are both QFF bronze members but neither of us are Oneworld members. I see Qatar is a QF/Oneworld partner. As far as I'm aware all our bookings were made through a travel agent via their websites. Are we able to claim QFF points for these flights or do they need to contain a QF flight number to be eligible?

We're also flying BA to Ireland and Aer Lingus return to LHR. Again, do these flights require QF flight numbers to be eligible for QFF points?

Those are all QFF partners. For you to earn points (and SCs) your booking class needs to be listed in the tables on this page

There is no such things as a 'OneWorld membership'. Each airline within OneWorld operates their own frequent flyer programme like Qantas does. This enables you to earn and burn on the airlines across the OneWorld alliance. The earn rate is dictated by the applicable fare code, be warned this can often be very low to nil in economy, even more so when travelling on a partner airline. If you are able to provide your fare code people on here will be able to let you know what you will earn.

Completely OT but you might want to work on it a bit for awards. Telling me that [h=2]BNE - LAX (U) on Qantas[/h]earns 7192 points.

Recently, I made a multi-city booking on QR from SIN -> DOH -> AMS and returning DXB -> DOH -> SIN for A$875. I doubt it will earn any ff points but at that price, I wasn't too worried.

It'll earn, just not on QF. I booked more or less the same fare SIN->DOH->LHR, LHR-DOH->ADL for AUD700 for 3, and subsequently my fare, booked later, was AUD800. All creditted to BA, and you can of course, also credit to QR and possibly AA as well.

I now have 15000 avios to play with. Better than nothing.

Recently flew ADL-DOH-BHX returning EDI-DOH-ADL, zero points credited with QFF, but like sinophile888, when the return flight is over $500ea cheaper we weren't worried. As we travel regularly to UK we have now joined QRFF and redeemed our points. We also found QR to be the equal to if not slightly better than QF/EK.

I take it you don't have any oneworld status? The OW lounges in DOH are an embarrassment. The "First Class" lounge has a glass ceiling with an enormous screen with advertising directly above it, so the lounge pulsates like a low-end night club. The wines were fairly dire (some didn't even have labels at all - gave a whole new meaning to "cleanskin"). Toilets were very nice though.

Food in the terminal was very expensive and there didn't appear to be any alcohol available - not the end of the world but I certainly wouldn't be rushing to loiter in Doha

No status yet, terminals are a necessary evil (except maybe SIN) so try to book flights with the least stopover time. Doha expensive, try GB£15 for two soft drinks, packet of crisps & a muffin - ouch!

Or at least some other oneworld plan. BA works best for me (I have a UK address). AA also an option. Haven't looked at Asia Miles.
