Qatar Air Privilege Club Restricts Redemption Nominees

Mrs Clayton and I booked a virgin flight to MEL for Wednesday and provided our Qatar Privilege Club account for the Avios. The Avios were posted to the Qatar account by Thursday midday, at which time the My List opened up, and I was able to invite Mrs Clayton in to My List, the app sent her an email asking whether she wants to accept the invite, which she did, all processed in a minute or so.

I then did a trial booking for the 2 of us in J MIA to DOH and DOH to ADL, all successful. Ready to proceed with booking our 2027 post-cruise flights when we are back from this year's cruise.

Because even as a QR Plat I was unable to book flights friends or rellies who didn’t meet the “My guest” requirements

As I read it, you can add them to your "My Family & Friends" list, and then can book?

Only after they qualify.
Once added to the list there is a set of restrictions such as age, qualifying activity etc that that person needs to reach before you can book for them

I am still coming up to speed, but I understood those rules apply to “My List” not to the “Family and Friends” list?

Would it better to sign my wife up to Family and Friends instead of My List so her Avios go to my master pool of Avios? I have 800K+ of Avios but she has none, and I only use the points for travel with her. She's currently a Privilege Club member, but moving forward would it be better to cancel that membership and sign her up under Family and Friends? I still have to do a partner flight with Virgin to unlock the single passenger restriction.

Also has that F&F added person been a PC member prior? and still added to F&F list?

Or do you as some suggested up thread that you must cancel their PC membership only to open a new account & then add them after the 30day wait.

I was under the understanding that once you earn Avios you can add F&F to that list, not the My List.

Yeah a few people took a VA flight and credited to QR PC which unlocked the ability to add to My List and F&F list.

After unlocking the ability to add, you can add people to either My List or F&F. My List is for people you want to add that already have a QR PC account older than 30 days. The F&F list is to add others that do not have an account, this list also allows you to pool their earned Avios into your account.

Should be able to add her immediately as the F&F doesn't have a 30 day cooldown (since there's no account). To be honest cancelling her membership sounds like a massive chore, I would just add her to the My List. If for whatever reason she accrues a massive amount of Avios that you want to pool into yours then just transfer via Finnair for the 10 euro fee.

Thanks for that. I didn't it was easy or cheap to transfer via Finnair. We bot have Finnair accounts. Cheers.

So you can't transfer you partner to your F&F group if they already have a PC account.

Yes the My List generally services same purpose as ability to book reward seats, but seems all a little unconventional.
Do prefer the auto pooling.
My family not PC members so no issue there anyway.

Have a VA flight in few weeks to which I'll attempt to change to my QR PC memb number at airport, probably in lounge. see how it goes.
