Qatar Air Privilege Club Restricts Redemption Nominees

Anyone notice error messages or partners or family members no longer in your list when trying to make a booking?

Tried to make a new avios booking , my wife now not listed .
Going into profiles cant add anyone to "My List" or "Family and friends"

Can anyone else report back if they can see other travellers in the My Family and friends or My list tabs .
I can see others in Co-travellers tab but this tab isnt applicable when booking Avios reward flights , the other 2 are

Looks like Qatar has restricted the redemption for others today. You can't redeem for others until you credit one flight to you Qatar PC account.

Bit of a PSA that deserves a post. These changes will impact people that do not credit any of their flights to Qatar.

Qatar PC has implemented changes which from what I can see have come into effect yesterday, under these changes you will only be able to redeem Avios via Qatar Airways Privilege Club for:

• people on a Family & Friends list (up to six people) - these people cannot be PC members and cannot be on any other F&F list
• people on ‘My List’, a separate list of up to four Privilege Club members

They are also restricting adding people to either the F&F or My List to accounts that are:

1. Older than 30 days.
2. Have credited a flight to Qatar or have converted points from a co-branded Qatar Airways card (none in Australia).

Painful, luckily not planning any bookings soon.

Looks like need to credit upcoming Virgin flight to Qatar for both my and my partner to open us up to be eligible, then the kids can be added via Family & Friends

At least partner airlines do count for the qualification:

3.2.2 the Main Member must have completed at least one qualifying activity, being either:

(a) a flown flight accrual with Qatar Airways or any partner airline; or

(b) at least one eligible co-branded credit card accrual transaction.

Along with the account being 30 days old requirement

There was an email on the 11th of May introducing "My List" and that it will be effective in June. Nothing in the email noting the restriction on using it, instead it was buried in the T&C's.

Strange approach to punish engagement with programme for the Friends & Family list. Surely it can't be that only the "head" of the family is expected to be part of PC.

Would have thought that it would make more sense for fraud purposes to insist that redemption nominees are PC members

I think it's because they're trying to serve to different purposes, the Friends & Family list essentially gives a "child" PC number to those people and is linked to your membership. All points they earn under that number get pooled into your account.

If your family member or friend already has a PC account then you add them to the "My List" instead, this option doesn't allow for pooling of Avios.

Bit of a convoluted system to be honest.

Confirming a Va flight linked to QR will be ok to sort this issue?

Yes. I have only ever credited a single flight to QR, being a VA SYD-BNE flight. Zero QPoints earned, 463 Avios earned. I have transferred Avios from BA to QR to make redemption bookings. I was able to add family members to the Family & Friends list last night.

OK,, just been on the phone with them, I was told they are changing how the add Family and List will work due to the complaints
