Is the “premium hand luggage” system still operating?

I’m on a QantasLink Dash 8 today with 2 x small carry-ons. They meet the Qantas mainline carry-on requirement. I’m happy to hand one over at the aircraft stairs if needed.

I could even check one, I suppose. I just don’t want to risk it being damaged (it has fragile contents) or lost. If it’s possible to do that is...

It looks very reminiscent of a 1964 LMS left-luggage tag .... are you sure you didn't pick this up at St Pancras??

That would be a Q200/300 judging by the number of propellers and the nose cone.

It's a 200. Either VH-TQG/TQS/TQX. There are only 3 in the Qantaslink fleet and they are the only ones to serve Lord Howe Island.

The Premium Hand Luggage system worked well at Lord Howe Island check-in too. The bag was overweight (8 point something kg) but as it was going into the hold without any other checked-in luggage, they accepted it. They did warn me that it might be rejected as carry-on on my next Qantas mainline flight due to being overweight. It was waiting near the steps after the flight.

An interesting shot on the runway at Lord Howe Island.

Here is 2/3 of the Dash 200 fleet facing each other in what looks to be a bit of a stand off!

Amazing photo.

And I should've said propeller blades, not propellers in my previous post. ;)

There's nothing "premium" about having to gate check your hand luggage.......:p:eek:

Some awesome photos there.:D

Here is the interesting check-in information and process at Lord Howe Island:

"(if you don't ask, we won't tell)" :)

So it's pax and carry-ons that gets weighed!

And notice the helpful "Domestic checked baggage allowance" sign. Still 23kg! And 2 pieces, up to 32kg each, for Business Class. Great!! (until you read down to the exception bit...) :)

Will be very interesting to see what QF does regarding replacement of the -200s and what their remaining usable service time/cycles is.
