QantasLink Dash-8 Security Breach?

Don't know if it's related or not, but I've just used OLCI for my WGA-SYD flight tomorrow morning, and our normal Q400 appears to have been replaced with a DH8-300 series (not unheard of, but not normal)

Was this security issue only Q400 related, or across all the Dash 8's?

Sam alluded to this and Thewinchester nailed it in his post. If there is a problem it is regulatory.

I feel safe flying QF dash 8's (particularly the Q400)

'meh. Must have been a slow news day. I regularly do FIFO on charter planes where there are no security checks either at PER or from the airstrip your leaving from.

The original report was about the coughpit door though, not security checks. That was a side topic :p

A side topic but hardly unrelated, the security door is there to prevent access assuming a certain level of security in terms of possible things on-board. I dont think its an issue regardless, standards are there for a reason .

Well got on the Dash 8 to DPO tonight and the security door was not a problem.
Only problem was arriving into DPO-the morning mist had not lifted(at 2010).
Also when got into my taxi he got a message that they had heard from the airport that a lot of baggage had not made the flight-great time to decide to go HCO!

Drron, you were in Devonport on the way to Hallock? I could have read this incorrectly of course

bugger

Things are not always as they seem, truth be known this is the result of a long running dispute over many years, guess the TV station had their moment and now someone will pay. Sometimes we just dont make the best choices in life and it is fair to say on many fronts, whatever the motivation this one was one of those, not a good choice by the individual who now needs to be brave enough to put his hand up. These engineers and this management have been at logger heads for many years, sadly there are some great hard working and customer foucsed people amongst them who do not deserve any of this. Both, engineers and management just need to swallow their pride, take time out, work together and allow those who really do give a damn to drive the focus where everyone needs it to be. For those who just said "thats bull****, wont work with this mob", you are wrong, it will, maybe time to think outside the square and get some compassion and passion in there.

Re: bugger

Welcome Bugger

Are you referring to the six Brisbane based Qantaslink maintenance staff who are subject to disciplinary action for unspecified reasons???

Bugger

No not referring to the six engineers, if it is indeed six, take your word for that. One, two or whatever may well have made that faitful decision, but a fair call to suggest they are in all probability not all involved. More to do with personalities and opinions and guess it may just be the case that this is the product of long term feelings and opinions, moving forward does it really matter who is right and who is wrong, just needs fixing.

Bugger

Well if you know the facility you know what i am saying, if you know the facility and dont know what i am saying then perhaps thats the problem! Guess for those in the know, whether that is you and i or not, it simply comes down to doing everything possible to move forward and sort the issues and in future avoid these tit for tat type of actions as has occured here.

Dont believe everything you see or read would probably be the best way of describing it.

Some employers like to keep a close eye on what information is handed out in a public forum in both an official and unofficial capacity and this may possibly restrict what information can be shared on any topic from possible employees who may participate in this community in their spare time. I am not saying that's the case here, but please keep it in mind when it comes to the clarity of some posts!
