Qantas using 737 without seatback IFE for international flights?

Yep. The 15yr old PCs under the seats only have so much memory, so is supplemented with a streaming server.

As noted above the newer 737s will have the seatback screens removed over the next couple of years as they are refurbed.

They both show up. In the 3rd image it’s listed under “seatback entertainment.” I think all 737’s have streaming though especially given the ife gives you a QR code to watch most of the options on there.
Sorry, missed that!

The IFE screens are also downloading content from an IFE server (head-end). It's more that they can't decode a modern video encoding format so Qantas store only the most popular content in the legacy format and make you stream everything else to your own device.
