Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

Do we really believe that Qantas won't change it mid-way through the year? Is their IT actually good enough to show different targets to different people?

And that would surprise you? It's Qantas. They have form.

Geez, I must be going soft on Qantas! 🤣 Yes, I think Qantas will hold the 1200 for 2026 new membership years, but I wouldn't put my house on it.

I reckon they'll honour it. Numbers for WP seem to finally be on the fall post pandemic and those living on magic plastic finally having to wind their necks in helps there. If we do hopefully see interest rates above 5.5% things should balance more in favour of those of us who read the room and live within our means.

Sorry if this has already been discussed and I've missed it, but I noticed Qantas has posted a list of eligible partners for each SC on the ground category - is this new?

It's more extensive than I was expecting, which is good as I think most categories should be relatively easy to pick up without much additional cost. The trickier or more expensive categories are likely to be Holidays & Experiences and Banking & Home Loans.

New one on me, mate; still not a fan of this SC on the ground nonsense, though.

Banking has a few easy path: zip pay and Webull have welcome offers, qantas pay is probably easy too.
Holiday & experience seems a bit tricky indeed, and the green offset one seems too costly, I am hopping they had more partners in that category

There may be thresholds with these vendors though - will need to wait for detail

green offset one seems too costly

Probably a trick to this that's better left unsaid.

On a totally unrelated note, I hear Tassie's good for a Friday night dinner...

That’s the key bit now - how many points required for each category noting that the trial was only 3 mths, so I guess the thresholds will be 4x (ie harder)?

The comment up thread about the Carbon Offset being 1000pts (ie $100) was pure speculation and in fact possibly flawed in that it could be 4000pts (being 4x 1000 allowing for 12mths status year).

Hopefully it works more like GT and only requires 1x offset?

Sniip looks like the easiest for Banking.
That’ll depend on the threshold?

Webull was pretty easy for 1000 pts. I already have that this member year, so hopefully that’s enough for one category for me.
