Interesting they say “cash at the airport”. Would like to see the reaction if someone actually turned up with cash and not credit card.

Cash has a surcharge after RBA rule kicks in I read somewhere Qantas loves a good surcharge more than most, to a point of, well fill in the blank

You’d think so but nope. That’s how good Telstra’s service is at my place about 7km from the Adelaide CBD.

Got the same info in a recent email from Qantas.
Any idea why domestic cash upgrades are only available at Melbourne?
From a technology/systems perspective, wouldn't all airports be using the same system? I can't think of a logical reason why this would be rolled out to one airport, and not all?

It is a different system to take the payments and I would assume it's a trial to gauge uptake.

1. My 1st impression was I got the email as I live in Melbourne
2. 2nd impression when I heard others got it too was that they were testing. Tests markets are always right sized (not too big, not too small) - that's why Adelaide (and sometimes Newcastle) is the test capital of the country. Melbourne's totally outgrown that population wise, but not airport wise, so who knows
3. Last impression is I have no clue why

“Cash” purely to differentiate between “Points” (the later being possible for decades).
