Qantas to phase out A380s

They should prevent passengers from crowding around the gate area. They should be seated or stand the to side. SQ and EK do it perfectly.
Whilst not a380s i find CX also manages their crowd very well and it boards in 20-25 mins for a 777.

Its all about how you set up your zones then have staff police it. (Don't come up before your groups are called).

CX are generally very good at it.

Although, departing CGK the other day, they were missing the seperate F/OWE line that they normally have at outstations (and obviously at HKG).

When we flew business FCE-DXB-MEL, we had our own lounge area, so no getting mixed up with the other classes. Very smooth and quick to board (although we all had to do a second security scan as we progressed through the ticket scanning doodad.

I've noticed this as well, and my impression is that it's more about the Qantas boarding process than the aircraft itself.
Singapore Airlines manage A380 boarding at SYD quite efficiently. They set up 5 or 6 lanes with queue dividers and signage showing where passengers should line up. From memory, the left-most lanes are for Economy, the middle lane for Premium Economy, the next lane for Business, and the far right lane for Suites.
Depends on the gate at SYD also, gate 24 for A380 boarding is an absolute mess as there's just not enough space in that area.

Agreed the gate allocated including amount of space for ropes and overhead screens makes a massive difference.
