They often do that unannounced. I was once waiting to board at ADL when three very fit looking guys boarded with no announcement. The two outside guys were very close to the middle guy. I asked and nothing was said just the wrists put together! Go figure!Group boarding work as expected today at MEL for QF167. 3 eldery pax and one unaccompanied minor boarded before any announcements then called Group 1.
Escorting a detainee! Fair enough for pre-boarding!They often do that unannounced. I was once waiting to board at ADL when three very fit looking guys boarded with no announcement. Not just Sydney also noticed the same thing in Brisbane. It makes sense if the aircraft and crew are ready.Ive noticed on my last two domestic flights out of SYD that boarding has started well in advance of the boarding time noted on the boarding pass.
Check out the boarding pass next time, it says 'boarding closes 10 minutes prior to departure' on the paper ones. Not just Sydney also noticed the same thing in Brisbane. It makes sense if the aircraft and crew are ready.
One thing to note is that QF can technically no show you if you’re not at the gate at the scheduled start of boarding time as they don’t have a end of boarding time, particularly important if they continue to board early.
I can guarantee you that they will call you many times before they no show you (via phone). I've also been on early morning flights where they start boarding way early and we just constantly watch people trickle in.Not just Sydney also noticed the same thing in Brisbane.
