Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

No excuse with boarding group clearly displayed on both printed and app boarding passes.

Like when you see people with teenage kids trying to claim they need to board early because they have kids. I like that on last few international flights out of Sydney the announcement for early boarding has specified people requiring wheel chair assistance or with kids under 2.

Group boarding worked as expected today at MEL for QF167. 3 eldery pax and one unaccompanied minor boarded before any announcements then called Group 1.

They often do that unannounced. I was once waiting to board at ADL when three very fit looking guys boarded with no announcement. The two outside guys were very close to the middle guy. I asked and nothing was said just the wrists put together! Go figure!

Escorting a detainee! Fair enough for pre-boarding!

Ive noticed on my last two domestic flights out of SYD that boarding has started well in advance of the boarding time noted on the boarding pass.

Tonight i was at the gate at 19:15, the boarding time was supposed to be 19:25 but they were already calling group 4!

Not just Sydney also noticed the same thing in Brisbane. It makes sense if the aircraft and crew are ready.

One thing to note is that QF can technically no show you if you’re not at the gate at the scheduled start of boarding time as they don’t have a end of boarding time, particularly important if they continue to board early.
