I just saw this article, although it appears the news is a month old - has this been posted before?

Qantas to codeshare with Kenya Airways | Australian Aviation Magazine

Great news for Qantas travellers to Africa, at least it gives another transit option other than JNB.

The flight from BKK connects well with the incoming SYD flights - both the QF and BA flights. FWIW the incoming Jetstar flight from MEL also connects OK (with about a 4 hour transit) but unfortunately the BKK-Nairobi (NBO) leg can only be booked as a QF codeshare if originating from SYD (please someone let us know if this is incorrect!)

It was also a surprise to see that the entire flight time from SYD-Nairobi is a couple of hours quicker if going via BKK when compared to the Qantas/SAA flights via JNB.

Interesting. No word on points or status credits for QF flights

Wow that is interesting news. From what I know of Kenya Airways, their flights are always late so the real travel time will be a few hours longer.

Interesting.

Kenya Airways: 2 fatal accidents within the last ten years; full member of SkyTeam.

Certainly a very different route that QF is targeting here. Didn't know the African market held that much potential.

If booked on the QF website, KQ codeshare flights have QF flight numbers, so for ~$8.8K in J SYD-BKK-NBO return, 480 SCs would appear to be yours ... :o

Nairobi is on my radar in next 6 months so I was elated to discover this thread.

However the $9K biz fare is rediculous - tried searching for reward flight - 37 hrs to get there and 38 to get home I think - via London - your dreaming Qantas.

I guess it would be too much to expect any form of lounge availability at NBO?

Assuming a QF codeshare, oneworld says BA operates:

Executive Club Lounge

Location details: Airside
Opening hours: Daily 07:00-11:00

Does this mean we could potentially use our points to get to Kenya via this codeshare.

I have already started planning my next trip to NBO and I was planning a similar itinerary to last time (via LHR) using the OneWorld Award. However, this could be a cheaper or atleast more direct route....

Sorry for the delayed reply, Jeckyl but "No" you will not ve able to use your points to redeem a flight on this codeshare as a Classic Award - maybe you can as an Any Seat Award though.
