Really? Seasonal per-akl. Upgrade dfw to a380. Change lhr schedule. Upgauge bkk to 747 over summer...increase to zqn flights also I think. Must be others.

I agree with per-akl as a response to NZ 787 but the rest should've been done ages ago..

It's a little disappointing that no award seats have been released even in Economy! I know it's peak season but come on Qantas!

The flights/fares will only have just pushed through to GDS today. Be a little patient and see if anything opens up over the next week or so.

I took United's "Royal Pacific Service" in F last year. The only thing 'Royal' about it was the FAs' ages close proximity to that of the current Monarch's!

I had one of those moments on a recent YYC/IAH flight in April.

We pushed back from the gate in preparation for de-icing & I saw a little old lady with a bun wearing a cardigan tottering up the aisle. I was expecting the cabin crew to tell her to sit down but at that moment she turned around & I realised she was the cabin crew!

As for their service I'd have to say that the J flight I did NRT/ORD upper deck on a UA 744 exceeded my expectations with excellent meals, comfy full flat seating & a great crew.

How about they keep it a 747 and fly via AKL. I would happily position to mel for that flight vs a 737 if wanting QF metal.

That's exactly what QF25/26 was. QF's true international service across the tasman which then continued onto LAX. I used to fly that service a lot, and I used to always chose 25/26 MEL/AKL over pretty much any other option, even with it's OMG'clock departure from AKL.

They have released a biz award seat on QF 101 in December, as well as some economy award seats, at least I see it available with AA miles anyway. QF has all of January zeroed out for awards across the Pacific to AA in all classes in both directions though.

Loads must be up for QF, which is a good thing

Oh and wanting to hurt UA's new service also ;)

United has upgraded the service to a 787-900 and Qantas is still dishing out the 787s to JQ.

By the way I still don't know whether the 787 is going to feel like the 747 in economy or the A330. I shall wait before making judgment.

If it is UA, they are going 3-3-3 in the back. Compared to the 747 or 330 (UA doesn't have these though), it will be worse :(. No idea on QF of course, but can't see them doing anything other than 3-3-3 as well. All of the 787 carriers seem to be going that way unfortunately.

Just had some Oct flights reschuled - 93 on Sat morning - now later and 94 on the following Friday now earlier

Luckily the self booked AA stuff still times in - 3 1/2 hours after 93 and 3 hours before 94

Without checking the timetable, I wonder if this is a re-scheduling that was speculated on in a different thread (about shift in timing of QF9), to allow the aircraft operating 94 to turn around to become 93?

If Qantas does 3-3-3 seating in economy on the 787 as well as having bassinets in the forward bulkheads that would be undesirable.

To be fair to QF, UA opted for MEL-LAX over MEL-SFO, despite SFO being a much bigger hub for UA than LAX.

So what you're saying is that the Australia-SFO market isn't as big as AFF seems to think it is ;)

The QF hub in the US used to be SFO and they still own some real estate there.

Yes, but UA has a hub at SFO now and owns a lot of real estate there. Yet they went with LAX-MEL when they could easily have gone with SFO-MEL, and SFO theoretically has better connecting feed for UA than LAX (certainly better than QF would at SFO).
