QANTAS tells me to book via Emerates and would retain my Statas and FF points but information was incorrect. Call centres incompetent

I recently tried unsuccessfully to book a multi city trip on the QANTAS site. Failed every time at payment-so I called the QANTAS booking number which is offshore. After trying to upsell me to business telling me there were no seats available in any other class the voice hung up when I called him out as I was looking at available seats on the site. Made another call and basically the same. The third call got me the seats I needed but they could not get the payment to work and said they would call me back when it was sorted to which they didn't. So I called again and asked if I booked via Emerates as all the flights out of Australia were on Emerates would i retain FF points and most importantly STATUS points to keep my Gold Status. I was assured yes that the work around and I would get all my benefits. I found out today that this WAS NOT correct and now I don't get any Status points or FF points!! I called QANTAS yesterday-there solution cancel my Emerates flights and book through QANTAS!! Just as an experiment tried the website and it failed again plus you can imagine the cost has increased anyway as I booked these flight a month ago. I am really disappointed I should get the incorrect information direct from QANTAS and could have booked through a third party if I had been told I would not get the FF points or Status. Lies. Any ideas?

What is the full route and fare booking class? (not the cabin)
EK marketed (flight number) and EK operated?
EK marketed/operated will earn QF ff points (but not many) if an eligible flight.
The quality/knowledge of many QF calls centre operators had decreased a lot compared to ~2019 and before.
Booking/not booking via a third party would not have made a difference to freq flyer earning.

Welcome to AFF @Ghostnet . Unfortunately you hit the nail on the head with your thread title.

You could cancel and use the OLCA as posted by Airwin or cancel and use any travel agent really should be able to book you that simple itinerary.

Another advantage of using a travel agent is that if there are any changes to the booking necessary as is very frequent these days at Qantas and indeed many airlines, is that the travel agent has to use their time to fix it and get a solution. You will get all the FF benefits if you use a travel agent as long as you get them to put your FF number into the booking.
