Qantas Sydney International Business Lounge

MH uses the Plaza Premium, BA the House and Qatar the Air New Zealand lounge.

AA, FJ, CX and JL still use the QF lounge. Open hours are 5am till 10pm daily.
Yes I know
But have OW J ticket pax managed to get entry to the QF J Lounge since the temp relocation under OW class of travel rules?

Punted from QF J Lounge to PP then to the adjacent Skyteam lounge (which is really operated by PP per the PP name tags in ST Lounge

MH J ticket and metal.

At entrance?
Yes by Lounge Dragon. He pointed to the PP printed on boarding pass. I protested about the OW rules regarding OW J but to no avail.

The PP line was atrocious because someone arguing about something. Tried to use the electronic check in kiosk which caught the attention of the lounge dragon who peeled himself away from the couple at the desk and said MH j pax "upgraded" to Skyteam lounge which is one floor below the PP lounge.

Probably better than the temp QF J lounge anyway
Probably and I didnt care much whether I got in or not. It was mainly to test the reality of the OW marketing.

ST Not a bad lounge though

Bit of a walk though to the gate. 24>>>59

I had no problems getting in last Tuesday when flying QF J. Just wanted to check it out, and IMO, it wasn;'t too bad at all, the lack of paper towels in the loo notwithstanding.

Of course, they could have banished me to the FCL.

Would be to do with capacity management whilst the main lounge renovations are underway not some evil plot to undermine OW

MH do seem to have something going where MH officially use the PP lounge but get "upgraded" to the SkyTeam lounge (which I agree is probably better than the temp QF lounge).

There’s probably an exemption in there somewhere since the Temp lounge is just that - temp lounge and not in the OW list.

It doesn’t even need to be a temp lounge - any lounge can deny entry due to capacity restraints. It’s been happening as long as oneworld has been in existence.

There is a catch all exemption that lounges use
The "we are full" is the main one - even if not full.

In this case, the QF J lounge dragon did not use the "lounge is full" trick but said the lounge on the boarding pass is the correct one.

upgraded" to the SkyTeam lounge (which I agree is probably better than the temp QF lounge).

I think it's on par with the old QF J lounge (non temp lounge) but I have not used it for several years.

I’m pretty sure they can say “lounge will be full” based on expected passengers, and given how tightly they need to manage the temp lounge it’s reasonable they enforce the plan that printed on your boarding pass.

Or based on any other excuse . Obviously will never know.

It’s clearly the reason. They wouldn’t have gone to the trouble of sending pax to different lounges if they could all fit in the temp lounge. If you were flying QF you would have got in.

I don't know anyone except for the lounge dragon would know.
They didn't go through any trouble - just checked boarding pass.

Again there is no way to independently confirm excess or lack of capacity.

Temp Lounge capacity < Former J lounge capacity
Entitled Passengers > Temp Lounge capacity

It’s not rocket science.
