Qantas Sydney International Business Lounge

That was however posted before the FY25 results (Aug) which suggested it was now a FY27 project.
True, but there has been some construction work going on outside the J lounge (below the F lounge) for months. Maybe it’s a temp closure for now.

I guess we’ll know for sure as soon as an AFF’r turns up there!

I can assure you at post #56 and @tassie6 at post #59 above, the Syd J Int is still open.
The link earlier was claiming closure from yesterday…🤷‍♂️. Curious if anyone here was there yesterday or today?

Mate I seriously doubt this fake news link. Sudden closures only happen in unforseen extreme circumstances. This a a planned closure for renovation work. There would be notices all over the lounge when it's about to take place.
Nestor the long time 1st lounge doorman/greeter (& I should add the now famous sports car driver and in flight seat belt instructor) volunteered a Dec closure (I didn't ask) when I saw him last week
My flight on Wed was late evening, the lounge didn't appear to be closed and there was no signage outside redirecting pax to as far as I could see from the top of the escalator.

Yeah, no one was doubting that it was open earlier as reported. The poster on OzBargain seemed emphatic that it was closed and of course that bought out the bottom dwellers slagging QF for not telling anyone….🙄. Of course, no one has bothered to let him know on OB that he’s wrong.

Anyway, obviously still open and good to hear that it’s progressing sooner than 2027 for those who rely on it.

The OzBargain guy was reporting in the context of lounge passes and maybe they’ve been already disable for the SYD T1 J lounge ahead of the closure? And they’ve got their wires crossed…

Tee hee, will the last AFF to enter please take photos, for mementoes.
And dont forgot to switch off the lights, ... used that old lounge many times pre covid.
In a way, sad to say goodbye to an old friend, but cant wait to say hello to the new one in 12m/18/24 (for me), maybe a trip to AKL via SYD will be in the works down the runway.

And most importantly a closure of 'more then 12 months' is being reported starting from December 8th.

Although the outdoor deck does look cool.

Closure from Dec 8? How will all the families going on holidays over the summer cope??
It will be interesting to see if pax on MU (status and in J) be finally sent to the SkyTeam Lounge...

Interesting that it shuts 2 weeks before Christmas and not say January 1 given most tradies don't work over Christmas. The outdoor terrace looks fantastic, as do the concepts.

Will be very overdue as the international lounge was very outdated compared to the Sydney domestic offerings.

Do we have any idea what the temporary lounge will look like?

Not sure on the main temporary space, but it looks like some will be directed to Plaza Premium.

The news has been picked up by several outlets (SMH/The Age, Australian, AFR) but I can’t see any official presser from QF?

Article in The Oz quotes Qantas International chief executive Cam Wallace extensively.

Developed by Caon Design Office and Akin Atelier, the new-look lounge draws inspiration from Sydney’s natural landscape, including the Blue Mountains and Bondi Beach.

The 150sq m outdoor terrace is intended as a “nod to pre-flight wellness”, giving passengers the chance to enjoy fresh air and sunlight before boarding 20-hour-plus non-stop flights to New York and London. Other features include a show kitchen with signature-plated menu options and wireless charging to more than 80 per cent of seats.
