Finally successfully changed my booking. Pretty pricey relative to the original quote - 794 BRL (including 300 BRL fee for changing) and the original fare was 1150 for my dates. Having said that it is what you get with such a cheap ticket!

There was one big upside from it though - I am now in Y+ for BNE-SIN!

Makes the hours spent on the phone a bit more worthwhile haha.

I assume your equipment is a 747 then, since the 333 which usually does the run on BNE/SIN doesn't have a Y+ class. I'm not sure what the protocol is if you are a Y+ and the equipment is 333 - do you get a J seat for free or just a nicer Y seat (i.e. better selection).

At minimum, I guess, you're getting full Y SCs and points.

QF51 has been 744 for a few years now, although it does get the odd A330 when captains choice is on.

Looking to book something out of MEL-SIN-SGN over the Melbourne cup long weekend, really wanted to get the Emirates flight on the Thursday night but it is sold out at the cheap price. Looking to go Friday night now but unfortunatlely doesn't look like can connect in to SGN till the following morning, coming back the flights work alright, will do the overnighter and straight to work the next day! All up looking at approx $450 return, just the overnight in Singapore on the way over which is a bit annoying but don't really want to 'waste' another days leave just to go on the 11am QF flight.

If you book accomodation Expedia don't charge their booking fee, so $375 is the fare which includes a night in a dorm at Bugis or Batam that you most likely won't show for ;).
Must admit I have been watching this thread with interest but no real need but approaching a time when I
may be able to use. Are there any slightly better accommodation options it are worth booking via Expedia that are actually worth using. Not that fussy, have used 2-3 star many times in the past, fine for a cheap weekend away.

These fares are too tempting!! When it costs less to fly to Singapore with QF than Scoot then any excuse will do.

After considering a quick same day trip to Singapore to check out the new QF Lounge, I almost talked myself out of the crazy idea (mostly due to the fact it is only in Y) but then having a DSC offer that ends this month (which I otherwise couldn't take advantage of) pushed me over the edge so I booked it!.

It will be breakfast in the Syd lounge, lunch flying up to Singapore on QF81 (to check out the A330 service), dinner in the new Singapore lounge, supper & breakfast flying back home on QF6 (the 747 service). A day out with a couple of meals, 11700 odd points and 120 Status Credits for $404 ain't too bad. Hoping those coughtails in the SIN lounge are as good as I've heard!

Unfortunately couldn't use the accommodation trick which would have brought the cost down to about $370 due to it being same day return - it wouldn't even let me look at hotels as there was no actual 'overnight' in the itinerary & I couldn't find any way to fool it!!

Wow, that's 6 hours in Changi (which mind you, isn't a bad place to be sitting around for 6 hours). What did you think of the A330? I think it's certainly a step down from the pre-Emirates days when they had the A380 or the 747 on the Syd-SIN route. I think my iPad screen is bigger than that IFE screen.

If only QF had a Fri night departure SYD-SIN. Combined with the overnight SIN-SYD route, it would be their most popular route by far (well, I'd be spending my weekend in SIN every 6-8 weeks anyway).

There is the BA flight at 15:40. Still gets into SIN early enough to still get hawker food..

Happy wandering

Fred

Sadly I'm a office slave so I can only take 7pm onwards flights. I have no concerns about hawker food - you can get that pretty much 24 hours a day in Singapore! I love that place.

Looking at this thread, it got me wondering whether there are other 'finds' out there involving other airlines and other booking cities. The ultimate would be to find it for Singapore Airlines flights (who I feel have priced themselves (unjustifiably) above all other airlines).

I've found availability on these fares on EK433 out of Brisbane with a connection from a Qantas flight out of Sydney around 2000. You arrive early morning Saturday in Singapore. Combine this with QF6 or 82 on Sunday night could make a weekend trip.

There are plenty of accommodation options including some good hotels at low rates.

You don't even need check-in..... carry on only. Shower in Singapore, change of clothes, ready to go. Wish it was me...... (Replied with a quote but the above does not show as a reply...must have done something wrong)

great thread guys, love the contribution from everyone - thought i'd share my experience... booked last week MEL > SIN for this long weekend. Booked via .br and organised the infamous Batam Island accom trick, no issues whatsoever. Due to timings and like someone else said above about being an office slave I had limited timings I could getaway so opted for the Emirates flights which were an unexpected nice Y offering.

Only a very small gripe that QF seat selection didn't stick with EK seating however at check in they placed me in the exit row so a fantastic result.

I'm in Singapore now and it is nice and warm, got a sensational upgrade at the Fairmont and overall the experience has been sensational! Will definitely be on board for sub $400 tickets soon AA+++ will buy again :D

Great to hear! Did you come up on QF35 yesterday? I did, and it was my first QF flight in a long time, really surprised how old the A330 was! Can't complain at what it cost though, now sitting at Nai Yang beach in Thailand, home tonight via VA in J which will tip me over to WP.

Is there anyway I can get these flights to appear on My Bookings on my QFF page ?
Do I have to call Qantas ? Or call Expedia ?
I booked a few weeks back for flights in Nov and again in Dec.

Thanks

Get the Qantas booking number, go to manage my bookings where it has a field for that data and put it it, you should then have the opportunity to add the frequent flyer number to the booking.

Hi markis,

How do I get the Qantas booking number ?
All I have right now is the confirmation email from Expedia.br.

And I actually did put my QFF number in but somehow it didn't come up in "My Bookings" and hasn't until now (its been about a month) but boy were they quick to take the money lol.

Any thoughts on how to get the flights up on my QFF page ?

I want to actually book another flight in August but first wanna get these Nov/Dec flights sorted.

Thanks

It shouldn't be hard to find in the confirmation email, just find whatever the 6-character string is following "Código de confirmação:" or something similar and that is your booking reference

I'm flying tomorrow on a cheap .br SYD-BKK flight and with the booking through expedia I booked a dummy hotel to get the booking fee waived - I'm just wondering if I need to cancel the hotel somehow that I'm not planning on staying in or if I can just not rock up. Any experiences with this? I think there were a few people who did the same dummy hotel booking with no intention of actually staying there.

Just wondering, how do you make these "dummy hotel bookings" on .br?
